6 years, Still Going Strong 24/7 in a Studio
This is my second PreSonus, but first of this model. I purchased it for $170 in Feb 2020. This is my main audio interface for my studio PC. This PC (and the PreSonus) are powered on 24/7, with proper UPS and surge protection (a surge is what took my earlier PreSonus model out). I am in this studio about 8-12 hours every day, using this PC for everything. This interface has never ever failed me. Everything is crisp and clean. Response is fine. Gain levels are fine, with most knobs left near the middle and things gain-matched elsewhere. My 80ohm headphones are run through a separate pre-amp. I do not use the software, so cannot speak to that. This studio PC is an i9-9900k homemade open-air rig running Windows 10 Pro with all USB routed and grounded properly. I would guess that many of the critical reviews are from bedroom hobby "producers" who do not know how to set things up properly in a studio. I work mostly on the MPC platform, but went through a bout of GAS and have many smaller synths, and a few larger, mostly used for sound design. All routed through a Zoom L-8, then through an Analog Heat mkII, then into the PreSonus via balanced XLR (left on 1, right on 2). From there, out to a 24-channel rack mixer, compressor/limiter, exciter, etc. I have just under 50 tracks released on several platforms. Granted, I specialize in lo-fi BoomBap and TripHop, but have a few Jungle DnB and Liquid Dubstep tracks released. All sound amazing. (Or, when they do not, it's definitely not this interface's fault.) I have returned, in 2026, to buy another as a spare, only because I am afraid PreSonus will eventually stop making this wonderful workhorse of a model, and I am not seeing much better available out there, honestly. Please, PreSonus... you've made the perfect interface, here. Keep just making this. Don't even tweak it. <3

The 24c is easy to setup and great sounding!
I’ve used a few different brands of audio interfaces in the past like Behringer, Mackie, M-Audio, and Focusrite. Now keep in mind it’s been a number of years since I’ve set any of them up and set-up has most probably gotten easier, but this Presonus 24c was the absolute easiest to get running. The documentation and sticker on the interface both tell you the website where to go and register your Presonus hardware. You’ll want to register because, aside from the warranty, you’ll be able to download both the drivers and a copy of Studio One, the ladder being recording software. You’ll be able to choose a lifetime license for Studio One Artist, or a 6 month license for Studio One Pro. I chose to just download Studio One Artist because I primarily prefer Sonar anyway. I will say, after messing around with Studio One though, I might just make the effort to learn my way around it more as I quite liked the way it’s laid out. The hardware itself, which I’m sure you’re most interested in is great! It sounds as clean as anything I’ve ever used and the mic pre’s are noiseless and colorless. Everything about the 24c is simply great! This is the first product by Presonus I’ve had the pleasure of using and I’m impressed to be sure. I recommend the 24c hands-down.

Simple, efficient, attractive, and easy to use.
This was bought to upgrade a Presonus AudioBox USB that I got in 2013, which still works perfectly as intended, but is no longer sufficient for my needs. This unit covered every upgrade I needed for that system. There were not many of these available but I knew it was what I wanted. If you can't find one in stock at a fair price, any Presonus unit in the same range should be equally sufficient, but cost may vary greatly. Recording and playback are equally impressive. It is used for guitar, bass, and vocals, and does so quite well. It has been used now for several months and works as perfectly as it did on day one. It's a good size. Not too big or small and it easily fits into tighter spaces. No external power is needed as it runs off of the USB connection. It is very much a plug-and-play unit, simple and efficient. My only complaint on the whole interface, just like the box I replaced, is that there is no front option for the headphones. I hate that all of my headphone cables are permanently bent from always having to run them to the rear of these units. Even with that complaint, I give it 5 stars for what it is. The only reason to rate it lower would be if I was comparing it to larger, more powerful units.

Meets my needs just fine for a simple home music studio
After reading reviews of several audio interface devices, I choose the PreSonus 24c mostly for its two input channels and the included software. I think the additional cost if any, for a two channel unit was worth it. It was easy to setup the interface unit but it will take some time to learn how to effectively use the Studio One software. But I was able to make basic recordings quickly. I have not tried the other software that is available with the purchase. I do not have studio monitors so have only used headphones but since it’s a home studio, that keeps the noise level down. No issues so far and would recommend. I’m using the unit to record electric and acoustic guitar playing and a little vocals for my own use.

Useful for laptop/desktop, not so useful for mobile device
I like the presonus 24c. the four meters are great, two for the inputs, and two for the mains. The mains are useful when using the headphone jack. The inputs are useful for quick gain adjustments. The idea of a single USB-C port for both power and data is great. But in practice, I found it somewhat wanting. With a laptop, it's actually very nice as it's a single cable for both, and the sound stays very clean. But for connecting to a tablet, it's less useful. iPads don't send out enough power through the lightning port or the new usb-c port to power up the 24c. So, you need some kind of hub in between that handles both powering and data pass-through to the iPad. I don't have any such hubs, but even if I bought one, it's one more thing to carry. If I have to run off a usb battery, then that's 4 things to carry, not including the mic and headphones. So, I would have preferred split ports with the option to run data and power through a single port, or the option to run data through one port and power through another. A simple toggle switch to determine which is preferred. A lot of audio interfaces in the same price range do this. Those devices use older USB interfaces, and frankly, for those devices, the single-port-for-both-power-and-data options is not good, nowhere near the cleanliness of the presonus. But still, I would prefer that choice. I also with the xlr inputs were in the back and the headphone jack was in the front. Seems like most interfaces have the xlr inputs in the front. Not something I prefer, but oh well. Though this may be a lot to ask for such a cost effective device, it would have been nice to have a couple of HPF options and a couple of limiter options. But for the price, maybe that's pushing the desire a bit. I currently have a sound devices 302 in front of the presonus to handle HPF and limiter duties. A rather expensive way to go, but it works well. All in all, a great little device. clean sound, easy to use potentiometers, simple button for phantom powering, indicator for USB power on. For under $200, damn impressive.

Get's the job done
I've owned the Scarlett and Axe I/O previously, and this is my favorite interface so far. As a solo musician that sometimes records with stereo mics, it has exactly what I need, and leaves out what I don't. My biggest complaint about the Axe I/O is that it has extra bells and whistles I don't use such as a preset selector, crowding the unit with unnecessary buttons, knobs, and inputs. The PreSonus did it right by leaving out such bells and whistles, and the sound quality is superb. The gain meters are easy to read. The input are easy to access. It has two monitor inputs and a headphone jack, which is all I need at my level of recording. You can't go wrong with this little interface.
