Worth the price
Bought this R/C Helicopter on a whim without real expectations for it. When it arrived, however, I was immediately excited to try it out. The initial charge was somewhat confusing. There is a USB charger that you can charge the helicopter with, and also a charger built into the controller. I had trouble with the controller charger not changing color to let me know when it was finished. The USB charger works perfectly. The helicopter itself is great. It's stable, simple to fly, and rather durable. I've already crashed it into many items of furniture and let it drop from my ceiling onto carpet and hardwood flooring. None of this has created any serious damage. The paint on the rotors has a few nicks on them, but it does not affect flight at all. A few things worth noting about durability. First, the balance/gyroscope bar on top of the main rotors can unclip a little after a rather robust crash. Don't worry, it clips back in and works perfectly. Also, the rear rotor will come completely off in a rough crash as well. It slides right back on the motor and works like new. (Each of those have only happened to me once, so consider this evidence anecdotal) In the event of a broken rotor, it comes with replacement rotors (2 main, 1 rear) I haven't needed to use them, but it's good to know they're there. The helicopter holds about a ten minute charge, which is still quite a bit of fun to play around with. Just don't expect to spend all day flying it on a single charge. The charge time is around 20 minutes. If you have a drafty house, it might be a problem with this helicopter. The helicopter is very light and will get bounced around a bit if there's a lot of air moving around in your home. The only problem I have with the helicopter is its use of IR instead of Radio control. This limits you to line-of-sight, and indoor use. If you try to use it outside the sun will interfere with the signal and it does not work at all. I've only had minimal success in the shade. Even with this, it's a great toy and worth the money. I'm considering buying another to let my friends use when they're over. It seems like it would be fun. (I don't know if they work in groups)

Fantastic and Fun
This review is for the Syma S107 Electric R/C Helicopter. Syma S107/S107G R/C Helicopter - Red This thing is so much FUN its almost PHUN. Amazing fun for the price. The little Heli itself is quite sturdy. The controller is completely adequate, if not spectacular. Very good first Heli for adults and children. With a battery mod to allow easy battery replacement, it becomes exceptional for the price. The E-Flight Blade Scout Blade Scout CX RTF 3-Ch Heli is better but more expensive. One large advantage for the Scout is the battery just plugs in and it only cost about five USD. A six battery charging station is available as well. Just imagine if you were to mod the Syma S107 to use the same battery... just saying.... one battery type for multiple R/C Heli's is a good thing. What you need on hand when it comes in: 1) 6 AA batteries for the controller. Rechargeable NiMH or NiCad will work just as well as alkaline. 2) An indoor room with carpet or a blanket spread flat for a training surface to soften the first several landings. The bigger the room the better. 3) No sunlight, no strong LED lighting, no LED, LCD, or plasma TV on. They may interfere with the IR remote control. 4) USB power from a computer or a universal charger. USB charging is preferable to charging from the controller. Things that might help your first flight. 1) Be patient. You are learning a new skill. 2) Charge the Heli till the LED in the USB cable is bright before each flying session. 3) With the nose of the Heli pointed away from you, turn the controller on, then the Heli, and put it on a flat and level surface. Push forward slowly on the left stick just until the blades spin. Do that a few times to get used to it. 4) To adjust the yaw (nose left or right), run the power up to Just when it begins to seem a little light on its landing gear. Then adjust the yaw trim knob (top-center of controller) a little at a time in the opposite direction it wants to turn. So if it tries to turn left, turn the little knob on the remote slowly to the right, and vice-versa. 5) Its easier to control the take-off if you power up quickly to a foot or so of altitude, rather than trying to ease it off the deck. 6) Take-off's are optional but landings are mandatory. Just let the left stick pop to zero power if you get into trouble because a power-on crash will be worse than a power-off crash. 7) Ask for help. It will speed your skills along which will increase the FUN factor. 8) Visit your local R/C Heli shops and ask LOTS of questions, peruse their R/C Heli magazines, get them to demo their products. Things to consider purchasing at the same time 1) Additional battery (care is required to perform the battery modification or hard-wired replacement without causing a fire) 2) Spare parts kit with blades, a flybar, main shaft, etc. 3) Additional S107's ' Good luck not getting hooked on R/C Heli's!!!

I received the first one, which had a defective flight controller. I returned it and obtained a new one from the supplier. The new one works great. I am very happy with the supplier, who replaced the unit quickly.

My son asked for one and I wanted a quality one since flying stuff is tricky- even though rated for 14 yrs I think- kids half that age are proud and adept, they can be taught. It’s a great little piece but we’re really careful with it. Thank you! Ps- day 2 the top propeller stopped spinning, but just needed to tighten the screw on it (so when you manually turn gear the propeller moves)

My grandson is 6yrs old and loves it. He has crashed it many times and has yet to break a part. Very durable which was quite suprising to me. The only downside is short flight time around 2min. But for the price well worth it
