Makala MK-SS-WHT Shark Bridge Soprano Ukulele with Vintage Satin Finish - Great White

Plays really well for its price. I'm a newer player, so I wanted to start with something cheaper, but still good quality. I browsed through lots of ukes, but this one's adorable shark bridge and bright colors caught my eye. Reading through the reviews, it seems like the perfect choice. It arrived quickly, but the packaging could have been better. It came in a cardboard box with minimal wrapping, but arrived unscathed. Now onto playing. After a few days of tuning, it starts to hold its pitch. I've been playing mine for a few months now, and it sounds wonderful! Defiantly recommend this!

We got the white shark one. The wood was darker than it appeared in photos - still pretty but fyi. The sound, though, is fantastic. My sil has one just like it (turquoise), and we loved it so much we got one too. A+, would recommend.

Bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter, and she absolutely LOVES it. It has great tone, and quality of workmanship is great. Plus, it's a real conversation starter with her friends!

Unclear about what strings come with it, some people say Aquila came with theirs, mine did not, fortunately I did purchase a set. The black strings are useless and the beginner would give up playing since they would never finish stretching "seasoning" . Once good strings are installed it has a nice sound and looks great. I do suggest they make it uniform and string only Aquila, even if they have to charge a few dollars more.

I bought this to learn a few songs for camping, and I've learned over 20 now! The strings sounds fantastic when tuned. There were some dents and scratches on the neck, but I don't mind!

Pros: A very playable uke. Intonation is very good. Sound is bright and loud for the size. Cons: The build is terrible, it clearly shows lack of quality control. The paint is very rough and seems like it just got painted on without sanding, paint is uneven and seems like just one coat. The frets are sharp on the edges. the tuning pegs are way too loose from the holes on the head stock. Fretboard is bone dry. The edge of the fretboard looks like it got chewed by a mice before it got painted.The strings are a joke, they are just a plain black fishing line, the A string won't go past G# until it snapped. For the price a better strings should have been included. Too expensive for what you get. The case is a joke, even my 6 year old daughter gave me a funny face when she saw the case/sack that was included. Need to buy strings which added to the price. The price should have been lower or a better strings should have been installed. I was gonna return it but my daughter can't see what I see so we kept it. The price you pay is for the shark saddle, sound, and intonation.

This was ordered as a present for our little granddaughters seventh birthday. I was a little anxious about ordering it from this company because of the poor solitary review that have been left. I think maybe they were very unlucky. The little ukelele arrived from Germany within three days of ordering. Beautifully packaged and arriving without a blemish. It looks absolutely lovely and having ordered beginners books for children, a tuning gadget and a pink (obviously) carry case I think our little granddaughter will absolutely love it. I did get in touch with the company asking about the strings provided and yes they were Aquila. They wrote back immediately answering my question with a very courteous and friendly reply. I would have no doubt in recommending this company and this little Makala shark ukulele. I can’t wait to help her play her first tunes.

This ukelele's neck parted company with the body on first tuning. We have the Blue version of this which is absolutely fine. Wonder if it is an unpopular colour and therefore old stock? Replaced with Kala.
