G16 Skin Repair, Very Dry Skin & Ichthyosis Treatment Cream & Lotion

This is the only product that has worked on my x-linked ichthyosis! It's fall and winter which is the time of year that my scales start getting thicker and dryer. I've used this product every day for the past 3 months and I am very happy that my skin is still relatively smooth and mostly scale free! Thank you G16!

The product works. I’ve used this product for about two weeks so far. The condition of my skin along my legs has cleared dramatically and it’s given me a new sense of confidence that I’ve never enjoyed before. The skin won’t just fall off on its own. You will need exfoliation. I’ve found that after bathing and lighting drying my skin, using an exfoliating bar or sponge of some sort will remove the flaking skin over time and in a matter of weeks with regular use. Why the product is expensive, a little application of the product to the skin daily after bathing goes a long way along with your other moisturizing products. I am impressed.

That's my headline because those were my thoughts as I took a chance on this lotion for my 5yr old son and saw the results. He has ichthyosis vulgaris. We are EXTREMELY fortunate that his major effected areas are his legs & scalp. He does not have it in his hands and feet as I understand others who suffer from this do. Still he does have the dry "river bed" look to his torso and upper arms and his skin is rough due to the dry skin hanging around and not sloughing off. His forearms get scales but not as dramatic as his legs. Okay, that covered... I followed the directions for children and used 1 part SR lotion to 2 parts aloe based lotion. I used Southwest Sunshine's Herbal Gel for that. I would actually use the gel all over, let that soak in and then use our mixed SR & gel to cover the rest of him. I only did his legs first just to see how it went. We did it morning and night. It has a lovely light lemon smell to it. Much better smelling than prescription stuff we've tried (yucky steroids). He did tell me it would get tingly/itchy so I'd rub it in quickly and place his pants right over it so he could scratch a bit over the fabric. That feeling he said only lasted a couple of minutes. I have no experience with it on my skin to compare to what he said as 1) I didn't want to waste a drop of it absorbing into my hands so I wore gloves and 2) they say wash it off if that's not an effected area and gloves made sense to avoid that. Holy crap if those scales didn't start to come off like magic! In about 10 days we really started to see it flaking. In the bath tub the water was full of little flakes! Which never happens. We could scrub and scrub and it was nothing like this. Anyway, day 20 and it's like all new skin! Sure we can see up close that he has a bit of a "pattern" to his skin, but now if he hasn't had lotion put on, it just looks like lightly dry skin. We're maintaining it with the Southwest Sunshine products, using SR only twice a week to keep it up. Probably perfect for a kid, not sure about an adult. This lotion was been worth every penny it cost to air mail it here to the US!! We're now applying the SR lotion to his trunk and arms - we're in the peeling stage, and it's amazing already how much better it's all looking. I do not have the condition myself, but as a Mother, being able to touch your child and feel that baby soft skin little kids are "supposed" to have, literally makes me tear up to feel that on him! We told him applying lotion will be like brushing your teeth - we have to do it every day to keep it healthy. It's been hard for him to understand why he's different, but now it won't show. So when it gets warmer out and he wants to wear shorts, this year he won't notice he's different. This year, no one will ask or notice. This year he can just be a kid and not worry. And that's why we've affectionately renamed the lotion from SR standing for "Skin Repair" to "Super Rad". Because if you ask my 5 year old, that's what is is - Super Rad Lotion :) One GRATEFUL Mama with tears in my eyes as I type! Buy this, you won't be sorry!

I had been using item since August 2019 to treat ichthyosis which I have had for many years. I will describe the results of using G16 in terms of pre-March 2020 and post-March 2020 (era of pandemic). This is because it seems the formula changed after March 2020. The bottle dimensions changed, and the lotion I received was much thinner than previous orders. Prior to March 2020, I could see improvement using the lotion twice a day. I can categorize the improvement as about 60% improvement. I even sent the manufacturer before and after pictures since they promised in writing that I could get one bottle half price for doing so. Got nada - nada - from them, despite sending the pictures again to them. That did not deter me. However, for the order that was received about May 2020 (I ordered 2 bottles for about $160), I noticed the bottle shape had been redesigned, and that the lotion consistence was now very thin - almost like coconut water (so it seemed to me). The instructions stated to shake the bottle well before each use. I did so, but that action did not improve the consistency of the lotion. Most of the good reviews for this product are BEFORE March 2020, before disruptions as a result of the pandemic. After March 2020, the positive reviews seem to decline. From my experience, not only was the post-March 2020 product TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE, but use of the lotion actually made my skin worse than before, substantially worse. I had read some other reviewer stating that their skin condition got worse after using the G16 lotion; I was skeptical at the time and couldn't imagine how that could be possible. But from my experience, I can relate very much to what they stated. Sadly, similar thing happened to me. To pay $80 x 2 for that piece of junk is an absolute travesty, IMHO. I am baffled as to how the "updated" product passed Qual control, due to the rigorous tests supposedly performed during QC.

As a sufferer of Ichthyosis throughout my life, G16 has delivered noticeable excellent results fast. I've tried many expensive creams & supplements from all over the world, some costing more than $300 for a small jar. None of them were able to heal the dry skin Ichthyosis that I have. Not even scrub treatments,, costing $100 for an hour at top spas could give these life changing improvements in skin condition. G16 was able to give me soft, supple, comfortable skin with no dry patches nor scales at an affordable cost. For the first time in my life, I feel comfortable in my own skin. Thank you to G16's great company & your research. You've succeeded where no one else could.

I think this product is way, way too expensive for what it offers. It does make skin smoother and keeps in moist, but icht. scales wouldn't go away like advertised. It is a great lotion, just hugely overpriced for the effect. For that matter Dermal Therapy high-potency moisturizer cream is much more practical choice in terms of effect/price ratio.

Like other commenters here, I have suffered from ichthyosis all my life and had accepted that there was nothing to be done but use greasy creams to flatten the scales and make my skin more comfortable. The blurb on SR Lotion describes it as "life changing" and while I had accepted my condition and never let it get in the way of my life anyway, I can say that SR Lotion has indeed improved all the aspects of my life that *were* affected by my dry skin. To get good results, you should follow the instructions as provided. I started with the G15 formulation so my experience is based on that; they're now on G16 which claims to work faster in the initial stages and which I am now using to maintain the condition. As a test, I applied the lotion twice a day to my arms for a month and then treated my whole body once I'd seen the effects. The first thing I noticed was that the lotion isn't greasy like other creams I've used and is absorbed rapidly; I can apply it in the morning and put my clothes on straight away. Ichthyosis causes the dead skin on the surface to stick around longer than normal, whence the "scales", and the first effect of SR Lotion is to make these peel off, so you can expect your skin to be flakier than usual for a couple of weeks. However, I found that this varied depending on how scaly the area was to begin with; my arms didn't peel at all and went straight to "normal" after about a week, my legs and torso, which had the distinctive scales, got very flaky and it took 2-3 weeks for the flakes to clear. Once the flakes are gone and the skin looks normal, you can reduce the application to once a day. In fact, it might only be necessary to "top up" the treatment less frequently than that - I stopped the treatment on my legs as a test, and it took a few days for the scales to form again. Something that is worth noting is that, as indicated in their documentation, SR Lotion has no effect at all on eczema. I have a small patch on my hand and it is as dry and flaky as always. So if you're in doubt, it might be worth consulting a doctor or researching online to make sure you have one of the conditions SR Lotion is suitable for. But the best thing is to try it anyway. After a lifetime with ichthyosis, I am amazed to have soft flake-free skin with that soft shine I used to admire on other people's skin! Finally, I'd also like to say that SR's staff are excellent. My order got lost in the post and after a conversation with them via Amazon in which they were responsive and helpful, they resent a bottle that was on my desk the next day. So I am not only very satisfied with the product but also with the service the seller provides.

My daughter was becoming embarrassed about the Ichthiosis on her face. People thoughts that she had acne on her cheek. G16 started to make improvements within 2 weeks. It took quite a few months for my teen to figure out how much to use and how often ( once a day wasn't enough, twice a day was too much, so she uses it twice on even numbered days, and only once on odd numbered days). The improvement has been dramatic! It will never go away completely, but now the patches are smaller and flatter, such that it can be concealed with makeup. One bottle has lasted almost a year, so it is well worth the money.

Mi hijo tuvo irritación y ardor en las zonas donde tiene menor el problema de escamacion. Entonces solo la uso en las zonas más afectadas y mejoro un 20% aprox. No rinde mucho.

Después de usarlo 2 semanas vimos resultados increibles para mi hijo con ichthyosis. Muy recomendable.
