Finally some large produce bags! They are fabulous for getting large amounts of veggies and fruit at the store.
These are a must have if you enjoy using your own bags grocery shopping. We made the switch to reusable fabric bags years ago. The produce bags switch was a little slower. I think that's a natural progression...at first it feels a little "odd" being one the only people in a grocery store stuffing things at the veggie bins in to my own cloth sacks. HOW MANY TIMES have the checkers marveled, gawked, stared, muttered or looked worried as my cloth produce bags would come down the conveyor belt.... "Did the vegetables come like that?" is the most common question. "No, I put them in there." They recover pretty quickly and proceed with weighing and so on. At this point I put on my hippy hat of pride and say "It's silly to stuff them in to a plastic bag here just to take that bag home and throw it out." You'd think this would be obvious to the world already eh? Anyways I had a smaller set of similar type bags that we used for a long time...but the truth is they were too small. We out grew them. I am pleased to say our fresh fruit/herb/veggie consumption has increased to the point that I need a produce bag that can handle ALL THE POBLANO PEPPERS (and by all at least 6 or I get antsy nom nom) I could sew my own...there's some degree of guilt I feel that I didn't...but there's also the rationale that if I don't have time or the materials at hand and these are pretty affordable, especially considering their grand size, then why not just get them and start using them. It's like any positive life step, you just need to start and what ever little step between you and starting that you can remove, the better. (This is how I justify half my purchases hahahaha) Anyways these are super awesome bags. My first most favorite part about them is they are HUGE....for a produce bag. For example I can easily put 14 average sized apples in one bag and still have room for a few more. I can put bundles of cilantro with their wild long stems in the bag and completely cover them. With my older bags I used to use they were so small that it was more like I put a hat on the cilantro bundles....just over the leaves, 8 inch stems hanging out the end...it worked but wasn't ideal. These appear very strong as well. Time will be the true test and I'll update their long term use in the future. For the moment they feel strong. Lightweight enough I am not concerned about any extra weight added to my produce bill but nice and strong I stuffed 14 apples in without a worry. I will confirm what another reviewer mentioned, the material while see-through-ish enough to see what is in there...has a tight enough weave that it obscures the barcode and the produce number that the checker usually looks for. I don't think this is a big deal because even in plastic bags the checker has to search through the cilantro stems (for example) to the twist tie with the code. Most of the time the checkers seem to have the codes memorized anyways. I do my part to help by making the check out as quick and painless as possible for them. If I put 2 bundles of cilantro in one bag as the bag reaches their hands I quickly tell them "2 cilantro bunches in there" and they punch it in. That way they don't have to play "un-wrap the veggies and see what's what" I also like the idea of using these for future travels as luggage organizers..I might try that out as they are very nice bags and I can see them being extremely useful for that. The whole flip and tumble wash produce in the bag thing doesn't work for me..I mean it might work in general but I have a system down already for washing. I have a big colander and everything that comes home gets their turn in there to be washed. Pr tip: let your peppers and apples drip dry in the dish drainer, it works! I don't store veggies in the bags, I saw some people complaining about stuff wilting etc...kind of silly...you can't expect these super airy ,esh bags to keep things magically preserved. Annnyways I love these. I may have to get more. I am adding a few photos that demonstrate how they are marvelous for apples. 14 in the bag I believe. Also a closeup that shows how the barcode is obscured, again this is NOT a big deal. But if it stresses you..there ya go. haha

Food Lasts Longer Aside from Convenience
I am so glad these are back on Amazon. I never got to do a review and I have bought 4 sets as long ago as 6 years. The bags are awesome! No more plastic produce bags that are impossible to open. No more sweating produce. I only find trying to scan through the bags useful about 10% of the time but I never mastered doing that through the plastic bags either. I put my produce in at the store and most things I leave in at home in the fridge or pantry. Produce lasts much longer this way. I also put rolls, buns, other breads out of their plastic bags and into these then put in a ziploc bag. This keeps the bread from getting soggy. The larger bags will hold 5-6 large onions. That is the heaviest thing I have put in them. They stretch a little which makes me not want to carry them by the top - lifting is fine. But they snap right back into shape and I have never seen any damage from using them for heavy things. My hesitation is all in my head. The biggest problem i have is remembering to bring them in the store. After 6 years, there is one weak spot. Where the cord comes out of the bag, the stitching has gotten loose on some of them (maybe the ones I have used for onions). Still they haven't unraveled. I could dig my sewing machine out or even just hand stitch the loose stitching but I haven't bothered. Usually, i just soak these a little while in hot soapy water (turned inside out) and kind of scrub them together then rinse both inside out then outside in. I have been inattentive a few times and ended up with spots of mold. In those cases, I add some bleach. Depending on how moldy I have let them get, they may have to soak for hours. Then wash and rinse as usual. Oh one more issue. I have had produce stickers get stuck to the bags. The sticky can usually be gotten off using cooking oil or however you usually clean off sticker residue. I have one bag I have never gotten the sticky off. It annoys me but the bag is still perfectly usable. This is not really the bag's fault. The price may seem high but they are so worth it not just for convenience but for how much longer food lasts in them.

One of my favorite items on Amazon
I have been buying and using these bags from Flip and Tumble since the first year they came out. These are everything you want in a product -- the work exactly as intended, have a reasonable life time, and are easy to care for. One year I gave them to everyone on my Christmas list. The size is perfect to hold 3 lbs of potatoes or a nice head of lettuce (celery and leeks are too long). The are sufficiently see-through that you can tell what is present at the check-out stand or in the refrigerator. They are light enough that you are not paying extra at checkout. I store most of my produce in them -- they vent, but slower than open bags so they are actually a very good compromise for moisture for everything except herbs. We have a seasonal issue with fruit flies here and we also use them on the table to store fruit at room temperature and they block fruit flies! I launder mine regularly by tossing them in the kitchen towels and using a medium heat wash and dry cycle -- they also air dry quickly. Mine get heavy use and last about a year -- with lighter use they could last for 3 years -- but they are so great you will want to use them all the time! A big thanks to F&T for their product design and quality.

Pretty good for their purpose.
For the price and the purpose of these bags, they are pretty good! These could be easily sewn at home, but for the price and convenience, I'll sew up another project another day. :) They are lightweight, but so far, the stitch and mesh have held up very well to heavy produce. The size is perfect for a family to hold the amount of produce one would typically get for a family in a week. Of course, considerably larger produce will not fit in this bag, but neither does it fit in most grocery store plastic bags. These easily compact down to manageable storage in a purse. Being able to wash the produce directly in the bag is also a plus with the mesh. I can then clean the mesh and hang to dry for my next shopping trip. Easy-peezy. But they are also easily cleaned with towels in my washer, then hung to dry. (Mesh dries quickly.) I enjoy the color coded tags for personal reasons of my own mind-organizing needs. The drawstring is lightweight, which makes it easy to close and open. Some of the heavy duty drawstrings are so heavy duty, opening and closing makes it more difficult. Therefore, I prefer the lightweight drawstring on these bags for their purpose. The only con is that it is hard to read labels through the mesh, even though the description says it's easy to see through. Some others have indicated they did not have this problem, but I'm having a hard time seeing how that's true. I can easily see what is in the bag and know what it is, but you can't see the produce numbers through the bag. Going to a farmers market, this usually isn't much of a problem, but a grocery store, it may be, depending on where you shop and the cashier you get. :) However, with the lightweight drawstring, it should be easy to open and close the bag to get the numbers, when needed. Hardly a problem, in my opinion, but it's worth noting. That small con aside, the only other issue with these bags would be if someone wanted to avoid polyester. I see another review that opposed such material, but it is clearly stated in the description these are made from polyester. If that is a problem for you, these are not the bags you want. Personally, a reusable bag is a reusable bag to me. It surely beats using throw-away plastic/paper at the grocery store/farmers market. It also does not state in the description (not at this time, that is) that it is made in China. Personally, this does not deter me entirely, but for someone else, it may be a crucial piece of information they wish they had known before purchasing. However, their website indicates it is ethically made in China. Another person indicated some goods going bad early in these bags. It's NOT a function of the bag, as it is a function of the produce. You must do research and understand that produce has its preferences for storage. A little research into the produce you eat will tell you what you should do with your produce once you get it home. :) Overall, a great product and would highly recommend.

Sturdy and no hassle convenience
These are great! No more struggling to open plastic grocery produce bags. Washable and reusable. Checker isn't having any problem scanning bar code. Good idea.

BEST eco-investment item I own
I have about three sets of these bags (some in each car) and use them every time I go shopping; I just tuck them in the big bag of reusable grocery bags and they're always with me at the store. I LOVE THEM!!!! EVERY time I go to the store, people ask me where I got them. They're attractive, perfectly-sized (we are a family of 4) and they wash and wear beautifully. They have great capacity (can hold more bananas than we can eat in a week) and the drawstrings really do stay closed, so not only are you skipping the plastic bag, but also those irritating twist-tie things, too. The only con I can think of is very minor: on *occasion*, grocery store clerks need to hunt around a little to see the code for the produce; generally, though, we buy stuff that's recognizable through the mesh (not really a dragonfruit family!) and the codes can be read easily through the bag without having to open them. If you DO need to open them, though -- how hard is it to loosen the top of a drawstring bag for like 2 seconds? Not hard. My sets are about 3 years old, and the only reason I've replaced any of them is when my kids have abused them in some way and they've gotten torn (hint: using them to carry cutlery on a camping trip is NOT a good idea. {sigh} Yes, it's not fun to fork over the cash for them at the beginning, but they last FOREVER and they are a terrific way to reduce the amount of plastic you waste at the store on every trip!

Amazing Bag...buying another set!
These are an excellent and earth friendly replacement for those horrible plastic produce bags. I can’t even tell you how many times I have had those cheap plastic bags rip and my produce go rolling all over the floor at the checkout counter, especially with potatoes and corn on the cob. Just awful, then you throw them away as soon as you get home. What a waste. These bags are amazing! They are so sturdy that even with 4 ears of corn or filled to the brim with potatoes or yams, they don’t budge a bit. I love the draw string closure too to keep everything in and are yet easy to open when you get home. If they get dirty, I just turn them inside out and toss them in the wash with my laundry and they are as good as new. I have never put them in the dryer, I just hang them with my delicates and they are dry in under 15 minutes. So not sure how they would do in the dryer but I would imagine it wouldn’t be a big deal.

Great Product!
I really like these reusable produce bags. I purchased the set a little while ago and have used them a few times now when I've gone grocery shopping. They're great because the material and stitching is quite sturdy and the material is just see-through enough that you can easily identify what you've purchased. I would assume that a cashier would need to remove the items from the bag if they needed to scan a barcode though. The bags are quite large – larger than I expected, which is nice. And the colour codes are helpful if you need to quickly identify items that are similar in shape and size. These are handy to have and wash very well. I would definitely recommend them :)

Excelente funcionalidad, super ecologicos
