Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Pre-Workout Powder: I purchased this for my Son to use before lifting weights but he didn’t like it. My husband, who works out at the gym 5 days a week, decided to give it a try as he’s never tried such a thing. He loves it! I put one scoop in a 32 ounce water bottle the night before. I feel by doing this it gives the powder time to truly settle. It does call for mixing it in 6-8 ounces of water. I think the strong taste that some reviews write about is due to it being in too little water. 32 vs 6-8 is quite a difference but it works perfectly for my husband. He loves blueberries & says the taste is just right with it being in 32 ounces of water. He feels it would be too strong if it was in 6-8 ounces. He begins to drink it on the way to the gym. He tells me within less than 5 minutes he feels an energy boost like he never had before. The mixture of caffeine, creatine monohydrate & beta-alanine is just right to provide the necessary stamina to begin his workout routine. He finishes off the water bottle as he begins to work out & reverts to regular water. He loves the energy & focus this provides. What I love about this powder is the added supplements. My husband isn’t one to take a men’s multivitamin. I’m all for it. This powder has Vitamin D, Thiamin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Vitamin B12, Pantothenic Acid & Calcium. All great supplements for a man who doesn’t take a multivitamin! For all the positives this offers the price is well worth it! This is now a permanent staple in his workout regime. He says he feels a workout high he hadn’t before. A win-win! I utilize Amazon’s subscribe & save so I save a little more $ & it comes automatically each month. I’m so happy this worked out to be such a great benefit. From my husband’s experience & from my love of the additional supplements I definitely recommend!

I recommend this particular brand and formula to anyone I can. It has good flavor, clean energy, creatine, and is affordable compared to equally quality brands. I don’t experience the common energy crash and nausea as badly. I am able to take this on an empty stomach without painful repercussions. I haven’t had any trouble with packaging thus far- I have a regular subscription.

It mixes fairly well with minimal clumping, although a few small lumps can remain if not shaken thoroughly. The odor is mild and not overpowering, which makes it easier to drink regularly. That said, the flavor and overall experience feel average for the price, so while it gets the job done, it doesn’t really stand out from competing products.

Where was this stuff when I was young? First time I took it, I immediately felt like I could pull oak trees out of the ground and survive a five story fall. The tingly skin and lips freaks you out the first time but that is just a sign it’s working. Love this product, it has improved my endurance and strength greatly. It also impressed me that you don’t crash after it wears off like other pre workouts people have told me about. I also love their whey protein.
