Review: LOVED LOVED LOVED! - Great visuals, easy to read patterns and so many my daughters and I had never seen that we want to do. This book gives you just what it says, tons of squares and their patterns. There isn’t any blankets with the combos but that makes for great imagination skills. We are getting blocking mats/boards and getting started with our own blankets ASAP! Review: Great patterns in this book! - I'm making a granny square shawl and I love being able to use the a different granny square pattern each time. The directions are clearly written and the book has plenty of photos and illustrations that help. I am using #10 crochet thread instead of worsted weight yarn and can't wait to complete all of them so I can put them together and wear my new shawl! Thanks, Tracey Lord, for all the wonderful patterns. Love this book!

Beware of errors
I bought the Kindle version of this book. The plus about the book were the introduction and the basic crochet stitch instructions - they were very easy to understand and I bought the book assuming those instructions would translate throughout the rest of the book. Also, there really are a lot of patterns to select, but unfortunately once I went through them I was not too thrilled with the designs. That is just me though and I don't knock the book for that. The minus is the instructions for the patterns. At least 2 of the granny squares had errors in the instructions, like the number of times to repeat the pattern was incorrect. Also, the instructions were confusing and I had to experiment and undo to make sure my square looked like the picture. I also read some reviews and I agree with them - the way the patterns were written is not clear. Some instructions needed to be broken down further so that you are sure you're not missing a step. I was able to make the 'easy' ones but I'm not too pumped about making any of the harder ones in the book. Also, the one I made was one of those patterns with the errors - it called for repeat 6 times when it should be 7 times, and I found that mistake in another pattern. I was so confused on why my square looked nothing like the one in the pic and why it was all lopsided lol.

Needs more than 5 stars
Not only does this book have an amazing collection of granny square patterns, it also has step by step skill type instructions. It coveres everything from starting stitch to blocking, and many stitches in between. It shows illistations with every instruction, and covers some pattern reading. I couldnt be happier. The spiral binding means I don't lose my place learning a new stitch or pattern. Great book!!

Love it!
Great mix of different square's. Love it so much I purchased both a kindle and print copy. Also told all my crocheting friends about this book so they can enjoy it as well. A few changes would be in order though... My first change I would have the stitch counts at the end of each row or round. I have noted that some of the patterns have that but lots of them do not. My second change would be the binding. As a well loved pattern book I can see that the spiral binding would come undone. Mine has already only a few weeks into owning the book. I've managed to get it back into place but thinking there has to be a better solution for this. So for content of the book you all get five stars ... Though for the binding you only get two stars ... Thankfully I have both versions so I can use my hard copy more as a close up reference copy or I would have had to return it .

Fun but be prepared to fix errors
I found this book at my library and ended up purchasing the kindle version for when I have to return it. I have been working my way through the book, and want to make a giant blanket with all 365 squares. However. I have had to fix several of the patterns as I go. Sometimes, numbers are dropped (ie, “1 dc in next dc” when it should read “1 dc in next 2 dc”). Other times, colors are incorrectly referenced, where the picture color key will have a specific color for color A, but the instructions either add colors (like referencing color D in a three color pattern) or tell you to use the wrong color for a round. The most egregious one I’ve found so far is in square 141, where a square that clearly has 3 colors and 7 rounds has a pattern that references 4 colors and lists 9 rounds. I’m not a beginner so this has been a nice puzzle while I improve my skills, but it’s also frustrating at times. So be aware that you’ll be correcting the patterns from time to time and read carefully before you start a square.

Great addition to my craft library!
Love this pattern book!! There are a few patterns that almost exactly the same, but overall there are so many great ideas in this book! I would say that this book is definitely for intermediate and up. There are a few basic patterns, but overall the patterns are for more experience than beginners.

To ignite your creativity!
Oh my gosh. This is the most definitive guide to granny squares, EVER. It covers everything from beginner squares all the way to advanced. It gives you clear instructions on how to create the square. What it doesn't give you is gauge sizing on the square, or amount of yarn needed to complete a pattern. This book doesn't give you patterns, it simply gives you the instructions for "crocheting" the granny square itself. If you have a pattern your going to use then you would simply make a square the size (heaviness or lightness) you want, then make all the remaining squares of the pattern the same way. There are heavy squares, lacy squares, flowers, zig-zags, ripples, ombre, multi color, layer on layers, flowers, inlays, popcorns, edgings, hearts, cats, snowflakes, abstracts, symetricals.....and on and on. If you've ever wanted something more than just a granny square, this is your book!

Too many errors to recommend this for beginners
As others have mentioned, this book has lots of errors. I bought it for a project where I'm using a large variety of square motif designs, and every pattern I've followed so far has multiple issues, mostly with miscalcuating the number of stitches per row. These errors aren't so catastrophic that an experienced crocheter wouldn't be able to figure out what was supposed to be written, but it's still really frustrating to realize that something you were told to do two rows ago was incorrect and having to either frog everything you've done since then or awkwardly try to correct it. That said, if you have the patience and skill and are short on inspiration, it's not a bad book to draw from. There are some really great designs. I just wish the patterns had been tested properly.
