Good salt substitute
This adds a salt taste without the sodium. It's best not to use too much or it turns bitter, so one container lasts a long time. My blood pressure has dropped a lot since cutting out added salt. I do have to avoid restaurants though, or make sure the chef can make me something without salt. And of course I check the labels of any packaged foods I buy. I follow nutritionist Jeff Novick's guidelines and don't buy any food item with more mg of salt than calories. That's eliminates just about anything but fresh foods from Trader Joe's, sadly.

Not Salt but Not Bad
I wouldn't use this if it weren't for needing to reduce sodium intake. But it does make a solid alternative, especially when used with enough other spices to increase overall flavor. It's definitely not salt, but you get used to it. Takes some tweaking to find the right amount to use. Start with a smaller amount because you can always add more but if you add to much it might be gross. It's tangier than salt and more intense. The product dispenses pretty quickly out of the container, so I typically pour it into my hand or a small measuring cup just in case I get too much. It does have a shaker side and a pouring side, but both will dispense it quickly. It mixes into food well and I have never experienced any areas of intense flavor when eating something with this in it. I have not tried it in baking. A little goes a long way with this stuff.

Appears not to have any additives, it's just potassium chloride.
I don't know how to describe the flavor. It seems different from the regular salt we're all used to, but it is salty. I actually I purchased it to use in DIY electrolyte mix not as a salt substitute, but it does taste salty so if purchasing as a salt replacement might work well in food if you don't have potassium issues. I chose this Nu-Salt brand and it appeared to be just potassium chloride with no additives such as anti-caking agents. It comes in those sort of round cardboard type containers with the plastic top that rotates for sprinkling or pouring out of container and these are a smaller table top version, which is perfect for me as I won't be using it much. Some didn't seem to be able to find the potassium content, it's 656mg per 1/4 teaspoon or 1.25g which they say is 15% of the recommended daily value for adults. The container may not keep it from caking in humid weather. As with all things, use in moderation. UPDATE: At my last annual exam my systolic blood pressure was high. I had the thought it might be the sodium level in my food/drinks. I was talking electrolyte pills as I tended to cramp after heavier physical exercise. I decided to try Nu Salt in my foods. It has a bit of an after taste. I then tried it with some Himalayan salt and it was as a better combo though there still was a slight aftertaste. My blood pressure though is greatly improved cutting down on sodium so if you have that problem try the Nu Salt, but go easy on it because of the aftertaste or if you can try going without any kind of salt might be better. I made DIY electrolyte powder to control the sodium in it. So far so good, no cramping and my blood pressure remains good. Happy camper!

Margin of error for ruining food is too narrow for me.
I apologize to anyone who does not have this taste problem with "Nu-Salt". First let me say, I am trying to reach the US RDA for adults of 4.7g of Potassium per day to combat severe edema. I was rarely salting my foods, but I was hopeful that low potassium (about 2g/day) with above recommended sodium intake (>=1.5g/day, not good) were to blame. Upon finally getting near 4g/day of Potassium including from supplementation, not only did I finally get control over my edema, but I started to experience many positive medical effects that I was ailing from and didn't realize getting the right amount of potassium was such a necessity. (not only do we need 4.7g/day of potassium, but it is necessary to keep the potassium to sodium ratio a little less than 5:1). Now, I salt my foods with Potassium Chloride when needed (I buy no salt or low salt products now, which I never did before) and put "better" salt back in using Potassium Chloride (a potassium salt) further lowering my sodium intake while increasing my potassium intake. A win-win deal. :-) Just a tip about using Potassium Chloride to replace Sodium Chloride (common table salt): some brands of Potassium Chloride, or potassium based salt... however you want to remember it, have a very thin line for taste tolerance from being just right to overwhelming the taste of the food you are trying to salt it on with an unpleasant metal taste. I found one product on Amazon that has a much greater margin of error when salting with it, which is so helpful, especially when new to using Potassium Chloride to substitute for table salt. "Nu-Salt", unfortunately, has that narrow margin of error when salting my foods. If it's low sodium broth or hard boiled eggs, I just add more broth or eggs, but commonly, you can't always correct over salting so easily. I've wasted too much food, even when salting a little, then tasting a little and repeating as needed. That's why I say it is a narrow margin of error, because I so try to not over do it, and then suddenly, with just a little more added, the food taste like metal and I ruined it. Oh, want to know the Potassium Chloride based salt product I am now using with the wider margin for error when salting my foods? It's "No Salt". I won't touch "Nu-Salt" anymore. I bought both potassium products from Amazon. I do realize that everyone's tastes are different, so you may actually have a different experience and prefer "Nu-Salt". For me, I'm sticking with "No Salt"... and yes, there is less potassium/gram in "No Salt" than in "NuSalt", which may be the sole difference in taste for me. Want to know one of the many unexpected improvements I got when focusing on my Potassium intake and reducing my sodium intake to the ratio of about 5:1, respectively? Potassium lowers blood pressure; sodium raises it. Yes, I had a nearly instant observation of lower (average) blood pressure when I started to get near the 4.7g/day of Potassium goal (and, respectively, near the almost 5:1 ration of potassium intake to sodium intake. Don't forget, I have mild hypertension and even I noticed a difference. It was only a few digits down on both blood pressure numbers, but I will take it! I will post pretty much this same review for the "Alta" Potassium Chloride pills and the 2 brands of Potassium Chloride salts, "No Salt" and "Nu-Salt", so if you see my posts repeat itself, please don't get upset with me. I let you know ahead of time. :-)

Tastes great but not full
The salt is great, Taste is same as any other potassium chloride. I know this is sold by weight but only filling the containers about 40% is very deceiving.

Happy with this
Use this instead of salt now. Have made salt free seasonings, like taco and chili. You can be very creative while watching your salt. Tastes like salt to me, but not to my husband, he can tell the difference. Use it all time when salt is called for in recipes.

Excellent magnesium, salt alternative
Good salt, all magnesium and no salt. Magnesium is very beneficial essential mineral for our body. So you're getting a good dose of magnesium in less than a quarter of a teaspoon mixed with water. Does not contain much in the small tube so need to buy 3 or more to last longer if you're using it everyday. Good stuff, doesn't taste like salt.
