Okay basically what we've got here are big sheets of two sided tape.. We bought a new couch and chair with our stimulus check, replacing furniture that we'd had for YEARS. My cat never seemed to have a problem with our old furniture, but when my fancy new accent chair arrived at the house, my cat seemed WAY TOO INTERESTED IN IT. Within one night, he'd already scratched two loose threads in it. That was it, I completely covered the chair with an old blanket and my cat left it alone. But my beautiful new chair was now hidden. We tried everything we could think of to keep my (very sweet and loving) cat from destroying my new chair, simply out of instinct. The water bottle trick never did work on him, and I didn't want to hit him, (well..... part of me wanted to flog him for ruining my new chair) but something had to be done. This could not continue. A friend suggested putting two sided tape on the chair. Well, I didn't just happen to have any 2 sided tape laying around, so I checked Amazon and found these. I cut one sheet into strips and put them over the places on my new chair where my cat had scratched it. He still tries to scratch it, but gets VERY offended by the sticky feel. I've learned that when my cat scratches the chair, it's because he needs assistance. The tape has been on the chair for about a month now, which means nobody can sit in it. I've been trying to keep a better eye on my cat when he goes near the chair. If his litter box needs cleaned out or if his food bowl is empty, he WILL get our attention. I've been trying to stay on top of those things so he doesn't have to "act out" by scratching the chair to get our attention, so maybe someday I can use my beautiful new chair and it doesn't become a scratching post. So far, he still tries to touch it occasionally. Hopefully he'll soon learn that the chair is NOT touchable to him, only to people. But you know what they say about curiosity and cats. Wish me luck!!! Update edit 08/26/2022 These things have saved my chair. I've realized the main reason that my cat scratched the chair. I said before that he was trying to get my attention for a different reason. As I reread this I realized that I don't let his litter box get funky and there's always dry food in his bowl. I had completely forgotten about my recent purchase of a fancy laser pointer. Not your typical cat toy, but for slideshows. My cat loves that thing, so he scratches (or acts like he's going to) the chair when he wants to play. If I don't catch on, he'll get up on the table and knock the pointer in the floor.

I AM GLAD THIS PRODUCT IS SAVING THE FABRIC ON MY RECLING JACQUARED CHAIR, BUT I DO NOT ENJOY THE FEELING OF IT UCH EATHER. THIS PRODUCT ALONG WITH A SQUIRT BOTTLE IS TRAINING OUR CAT NOT TO USE THE FURNITURE AS HER SCRATCHPAD.

Despite what one reviewer wrote, it is transparent. You just need to remove the yellow paper from one side. It is sticky on both sides so it's a little difficult to put on if you are not careful. I did manage to ruin one piece because the paper stuck to itself but there are many sheets included in the order. I have a new cat and two new chairs so I ordered these sheets as soon as I saw how much she liked my chairs. And they really work. She has not attempted to scratch them again. The sheets are not invisible on the chairs but I would rather that then scratched up chairs and I think after a while she will learn to avoid them. Great product.

It is a great product, very effective as a deterrent to cat scratching. However, there is one serious drawback. It is almost impossible to separate the sticky, clear plastic from the yellow paper. You should have a pull tab on the yellow paper.

This does not stick to the couches the minute a blanket touches it. It comes off, not good quality would not recommend buying.

Fell/ peeled off couch really fast. Did deter cat while it was sticking on and no damage to furniture but did not last long.
