If you are concerned about lead, this is the ticket. The melting characteristics are very similar to standard tin/lead solder. Personally, being a chemist, I know that lead does not vaporize at soldering temperatures, so lead exposure is not much of a concern. But there may be other reasons to avoid lead so this solder is an excellent alternative.

I got this as the most reasonably priced and smallish spool of solder for the money. I used a Weller "pro" soldering iron with the solder, and it worked well for my needs soldering several very small +26ga connections together. Wires and parts were well fluxed, and this solder flowed nicely and evenly. I could have used a smaller quantity, but I learned to solder when holding the spool, and this is a good size to hold on to.
