Yesterday I attempted to use it for the first time and the shaft snapped from the augers after first attempt. Hoping to return it I read it was only returnable until March 30th. Shoddy waste of money and illogical return policy. No one can use this until the ground thaws , so beware!!!! Review: Heavy duty! Well built auger! - This thing is cool! It is larger and more solid than I expected. It will be perfect for drilling holes for planting bulbs. I also need to dig up some flower beds and I think using my power drill and this bit will be much more fun! I am very happy with this purchase!

Broke after making two holes
Thus auger broke after drilling just two holes in the ground to plant bulbs. The auger hit a rock and the shank of the auger broke completely off, making the auger un-usable and trash. I've found that the augers which feature a long shaft, from which the shank is fashioned and the thread/cutting tip is formed, work best. This is because the shaft and the shank are essentially one and you don't rely upon a weak or bad weld.

Toss the shovel, save some time, enjoy the chore.
I first saw this on living traditions homestead on youtube, check 'em out. I planted twenty tomato plants in one after noon. Useful for other things, for example, I use it to stir up compost bins, no more using something with a handle and my back. And super quick. I was still looking for something else to use it on, like a new toy. I use a cordless drill, a corded drill will have more power for compost and save wear and tear on the cordless. Thank you to Kevin and Sarah at livingtraditionshomesteat in south central Missouri, MY back thanks you. Check them out for more time saving stuff.

Used to plant tulip bulbs
Switching to an electric drill gave me the power needed to drill holes for the bulbs. Highly recommend.

Junk, don't waste your money.
Absolute junk, the weld snapped the first time we used it. Very soft compost, no rocks, no weeds, no roots, nothing but soft fluffy dirt. Trying to plant 100 alliums, got 3 holes done, the crap weld snapped on the third hole. What a waste, and of course too late to return.

worked well for what I needed it to do
Though I didn't use this product for it's intended use, I give it high ratings. I used this to dig a pipetrench under a sidewalk. Works great for that usage, though it would help to sharpen the helix edge to cut through roots. These come like this one and one with a longer shank, would be nice to have an extention that has set screws.

Great tool just don't use on hard/rocky soil
I had planted at least 50 plants in no time with the auger but once I tried to drill in tough/compact clay soil it snapped off.
