I’m a licensed home child care provider and this is one of the Childrens favorite manipulatives! I put it out for each of their birthdays and Christmas, but it stays on a shelf for them to ask for it and they play with it constantly. It’s extremely durable and well-made. It does have small pieces so I sit with the younger children as they play, and the pieces are perfect for the preschoolers.

As an educator I love a good manipulative for teaching and strengthening math skills and concepts. Especially for younger children. That in itself makes this item a win because it actually helps disguise learning as playing. I love how the little surprise boxes have the written number PLUS the dice pips ( spots on dice) . Recognizing the number of pips without counting is a very valuable skill in early childhood education. In addition to the number practice, the little gift boxes and the gifts inside are the same colors. That is 4 key learning objectives right there because obviously language is being incorporated! With a little imagination you you can incorporate science/motion/movement lessons, directional activities, and so much more. The possibilities are only limited with your own imagination. Also, an obvious is the fine motor practice when opening and replacing the lids. My daughter just thinks they are fun toys that she and I play with each day. She has no idea she is learning so much.

This toy is FANTASTIC for so many reasons! The present boxes open and close easily for surprise egg play, but they also double as present toys for all of our other playsets and toys! Peppa pig, Mickey mouse, Barbie, Calico Critters-- everyone has presents for pretend birthday parties and Christmas! Also, the trinkets inside of the present boxes are really great quality. We use them in play with our other playsets, too! My daughter received them when she was 2 years old. My kids are STILL playing with these every day (daughter 3, son 7) because of the versatility! The ways to play with this toy are literally endless. Get it to have accessories and present boxes for all of your other toys, it's worth it for that alone! Get it to have "surprise egg" containers that actually work for small hands to open and close by themselves! Either way, just get it. This is one of those sets that is a MEGA WIN no matter how you slice it. It's perfect for play!

This is great to work on speech therapy with little ones. You can also work on object permanence too! Fun toys to practice sound imitation, colors, counting and sound production. Would only recommend for 3+ with supervision for little ones.

Soy estudiante de Patología del Habla y este material me gustó mucho. Es perfecto para trabajar conteo, colores y vocabulario de forma divertida. Los niños se motivan porque cada cajita es una sorpresa, y eso mantiene su atención. También ayuda con destrezas motoras finas al abrir y cerrar las cajas, mientras aprenden a contar y a clasificar . Lo he usado para trabajar lenguaje (nombrar, pedir, describir) y funciona muy bien en terapia o en casa. Lo recomiendo si buscas un juguete sencillo, educativo y que realmente mantenga a los niños engaged.

I love this toy! I am an Early Childhood SLP and have used this for several days now to encourage expressive language with both my granddaughter and my ECSE students during speech and language therapy. The lids are somewhat tight, which I like to encourage children to ask for help if they can't get the lid on or off. The objects are easy for children to identify and name. I plan to use this as a reward system for children during speech/language therapy, to hide small objects for children to work on specific sounds during speech therapy, to work on vocabulary development with children, to work on simple spatial concepts, and to use to extend words into phrases and sentences. It would be awesome if they sold an extended batch of miniature items, but I can likely find things to use elsewhere. It would also be nice if they came in a storage container. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the strange colors they used. It would be much more beneficial for toddlers/preschoolers if they were standard colors: red, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, pink, brown, black, white, and gray. It would also be nice if the items that went in the box had something that coordinated with the number on that box. This is fantastic for working on pre-academic skills, such as matching colors of the lids with the boxes, recognizing numbers, one-to-one correspondence, subitizing, etc. Bilateral hand skills are used when children hold the box in one hand and use their other hand to remove and put on the lid. Overall, I highly recommend this toy for children who do not put things in their mouths. Children should probably be supervised while using this since the small items are a choking hazard.

BEST TOY EVER!!! I love Learning Resources and have a lot of their products at my office!! This one is so cute and fun! It’s perfect for birthdays or any day!! The cute characters inside are a fun surprise and are color coordinated for each box. This toy teaches numbers, colors, prepositions, labeling and more!! I would LOVE it if Learning Resources came out with another set with numbers 11-20!! I’d be first in line to buy it!!

There are not many toys that can hold my 3 year old's attention for long! This one does, and there are so many ways of playing with it. Great tool to boost memory in a fun way!

Great for speech therapy work at home. Great for teaching colour recognition, prepositions and counting etc. as well as fine motor skills. We use these in so many ways for open-ended play. Some ways we use these daily: other toys can have birthday parties with these as the presents; we hide the present boxes in other toys for a special surprise; swap the items around for a fun sorting game; practice putting them in number order; making a tower out of the boxes; practicing prepositions by moving the items around/in/on/behind the box. They are sturdy and well-made and a great size for little hands. I would buy these again, hands-down.

Great toy! Keeps kids entertained and good for developmental milestones. Very sturdy and good quality. You do have to keep an eye on kids and make sure that they do not choke on small pieces.
