Nothing to compare to, but love what I got...
I wanted to get a new workout gadget to play with and I saw someone using a BodyBlade, so I thought I'd pick one up - then I saw the price, much more than something I didn't feel strongly compelled to buy. Thanks to good old Amazon suggestions, I spotted this, and at the price, it was worth taking a gamble on. As far as workmanship on the product, it seems to be well built and thought out - to be honest, I'm not sure what the competition does to warrant 3x the price, but from my perspective, the Total Bar is a great value (very few other workout things I have cost as little). Now from the workout perspective - I'm a fan of functional training, I have a Tuff Stuff corner functional trainer that I really love, so I'm already a believer of this kind of equipment. That being said, I was open but skeptical about how good of a workout that swinging around some rubber ends on a composite tube would be... For me, this was akin to when I first used a VersaClimber (if you haven't tried one, then definitely do it) - it's best summed up as deceptively difficult. It's *VERY* easy to pickup and just sort of do it - and it's actually a pretty natural device, so it's also easy to do things correctly, which is even better. At first you think, "Bah, this is way too easy..." - then keep doing it for a minute - "ok, maybe not so easy..." - then do it for a minute or two more "yeah, this can definitely be a good workout". Will it replace my other equipment? Not on your life - I love my treadmill and functional trainer, but will this start being a part of my rotation to mix things up? Absolutely, for me if gives a good burn, it's quick to setup and get going - not much more to ask. My only reservations (which I'll update this review if it ever happens), is whether or not this thing will break at some point, and if it does, how painful an experience it is. ;) On the suggestion side, I wish it could be made to collapse down and travel well, because if it did, it would absolutely be something I would take on trips for easy hotel workouts - but as it is, it's way too long.

An interesting exercise and unique device which is based upon virbration not reps.
Physical Fitness and the martial arts have been an important part of my life for more than 60 years. Over the years I have tried numerous kinds of exercise programs and many different kinds of exercise tools. One of them was an exercise tool that used vibration to work the various muscles. I lost or misplaced that piece of equipment more than ten years ago, but I recently came across this product on Amazon (Fitryo Total Bar) and immediately sent for it. This unique piece of exercise equipment works the muscles in unusual ways which stimulate and works the muscles by the use of vibration. The bar has a middle portion for gripping it and the rubber caps on the ends provide the vibration. There is a wide variety of exercises that can be done with this piece of equipment. I have included it in my regular workouts and like using it. This unit also comes with a detailed exercise booklet and a nutritional guide. You can also go on line and look up Fitryu Total Bar and there are numerous short clips showing exactly how to use this exercise tool. My only real complaint is that you must have some space to work out in because of the length of the bar; however, even in my limited space I was able to use the total bar without too much trouble. Total Bar vs. BodyBlade
I owed a number of BodyBlades (different sizes) years before I tried the Total Bar. While they both work on the same principles, they get there a little differently in my opinion. BodyBlade: It is heavier than the TotalBar and since the natural frequency of vibration is less than the TotalBar it has more range of motion. This makes it more forgiving for a beginner who can vary the frequency much easier with the BodyBlade. I can get an aerobic and/or an anaerobic workout with the BodyBlade. It can be somewhat of a relaxing workout. I can workout with these for minutes at a time. Total Bar: At 270 cycles per minute, this thing cranks. This is one fast anaerobic (interval) workout. If you don't use this at its natural frequency it just doesn't feel like a workout at all. Use it at a fast frequency or don't use it. I generally can't last a minute on any of the exercises. Heartrate skyrockets with this thing. It is a third the cost or better than the BodyBlade Pro. Bottom Line: Both BodyBlade and Total Bar can be reasonable strength workouts with the edge going to Total Bar for strength, especially for good interval workouts. I've been unable to use Total Bar for a traditional aerobic workout though interval work can be used to gain aerobic fitness. I've used BodyBlade for aerobic workouts and it provides a less intense warm up exercise. If you're a beginner and can afford the BodyBlade, it is probably your best choice. If you want to generate lactic acid fast, get a Total Bar. Both brands seem well made to me and have lasted years in the case of BodyBlade and months for the newer Total Bar.

Not ideal
I work as a physical therapist. Have used the body blade brand in the past but thought I would give this a try because of good reviews I have read and significantly less money. Liked the booklets it came with for workout references and it was definitely usable...BUT their is not a lot of flex with this product which is what makes these type of body bars so effect for things like shoulder rehabilitation. The vibrations from the bar moving as you shake it work the muscles more. This when the bar is not as flexible there are not as many vibrations...kind of defeating the purpose. It work fine if your on a strict budget but I ended up returning and splurging for the body blade brand.

Get out of your chair and shake it...
I purchased the Fitryo Total Bar a couple months ago and have used it regularly since. While I was introduced to this type of equipment through physical therapy for a rotator cuff injury, I use the Total Bar to combat the sedentary nature of my job. I have a desk job so I spend the better part of my day sitting in front of a computer monitor. While I generally walk or run during my lunch break, I need something for the hours before and after lunch, and the Total Bar fits the bill nicely. I set a sixty minute timer on my PC, when it goes off I hop up and do a minute each of at least three exercises. I find this has helped me keep a rather steady energy level through the day, I don't feel as stressed at the end of the day, and of course the health benefits are a given. The Total Bar is very well constructed with a comfortable rubber grip and rubber weights at each end of the bar. In use the Total Bar is easily comparable to a Body Blade if not better. If I were forced to nitpick, it would be that the bag/case that came with my Total Bar is a touch small. It is a chore to get the Total Bar into and when closed it doesn't completely encase the bar. If the bag were about 1/2" bigger in both length and diameter, it would be perfect. I only use the bag when toting the bar back and forth from work, so it's not a big deal. In short: A very well made, effective tool, easily comparable to higher cost devices. I would (and most likely will) buy again.

Total Bar's Been a Life Changer
I used to be one of those people who would spend a lot of my time in the gym. That is until I had my ridiculous shoulder injury about a month ago, after which my doctor told me I should keep away from heavy weights. This was devastating news, but long story short I realized this was the only way to keep my shoulder safe. I started going to my physical therapy and my PT told me that all hope was not lost. I remember this day very clearly because it was quite amusing. My PT went into the other room and brought out this huge stick, I remember thinking "what the hell is that huge thing!", but soon I would realize it was just what I needed. I started using the total bar in his office every visit, after a few weeks went by my shoulder has started to get better. I decided to look online for the total bar and was surprised at the reasonable price, so I went and purchased it for my home to speed up my recovery. So all in all I just want to say that don't be afraid by the size of this thing because it's definitely worth it if you are looking to get back to the gym. Plus it's pretty good for working out your abs as well. PS. I also posted some pictures of what I got from amazon. PPS. I added a video of my girlfriend using the bar.

ONE for durability.....FIVE for effectiveness----BUYER BEWARE!
I was skeptical at first however I have a torn shoulder labrum and rather than surgery I researched for hours and determined I would try to strengthen the rotator cuff/shoulder muscles...thus I found the Total Bar. It was strengthening the shoulder however read the durability part below. PROS: purchase price easy of use effective.......one can work up a sweat and see the muscle tone defining month over month you CAN FEEL THE BURN CONS: takes a little getting used to durability -- I have 2 bars (since July I have been using them 5-7 days per week) and the both are splitting/cracking on both sides of the handle appears company does not put in much $ in R &D I suggest you skip this and try the Body Blade...I will once they both are unusable. I was wondering why the price kept dropping over the last several months! ONE for durability.....FIVE for effectiveness ps......I will NEVER post a review for a discounted price or free product! EDIT: Interesting how many POSITIVE review's were posted since Oct. 2015, especially Jan 2016 by people that did NOT have verifiied reviews! Also, others have commented on the same problem my bars had with them splitting!

Total Bar vs Body Blade
I have a collection of Body Blades (BB) and one Total Bar (TB). I have the Classic, the Pro, and two of the CxT versions of the BB. My wife uses the Classic and I the Pro as well as two CxT (for individual arm and shoulder work). I now use the TB at my office when I can. The TB is the same length as the BB Pro...5 feet. The TB as others have indicated has a tendency to orbit in a circular/oval pattern once you get the thing oscillating. It is a circular rod with weighted ends. This serves to disrupt the motion intended (which is supposed to be up/down or back/forth along a straight line) . So, you find yourself struggling to bring it back into a linear plane. Whereas the BB is a flat and wide "blade" which by design cannot move in a orbital fashion. The TB gives a pretty intense workout once you master it, but I find the BB a bit more refined. If you have the budget I'd opt for the BB. The workout DVD is a plus. My wife and I are working together on the various 10 minute sets provided on the DVD. The TB comes with...nothing - in spite of the fact the advertising says it comes with an exercise and nutrition guide. It doesn't come with either. You must go to their website and download and print the guides which isn't the same as including them in the price now is it...? To summarize. BB would be my first choice if cost weren't a factor. The Pro is longer and heavier and requires a bit more strength and fitness to use than the Classic. However, the Classic provides a serious workout when used properly and I actually use both - Classic as a warm up followed by the Pro for my routine or days when I'm just not up to the extra effort required by the Pro. The TB is a good alternative. It is harder to master and control. However it provides a solid workout almost comparable to the BB Pro without the elegance and smoothness you will experience with the BB Pro. I'm finding that this vibration and inertial training is a good complementary fitness routine to my rowing and resistance training (weight lifting) and you'll be surprised how demanding and fatiguing a workout can be with this bar or blade.

Decent
The 360 action makes it less effective than a body blade but otherwise gets the job done
