Great little heater, $50 or more cheaper on Amazon than through local retailers including the well-known big box stores!
I seldom rate items this early (only had it about a week now) and in fact, I rarely rate items at all. But I know that it's cold out there (at least in the North East), and many people are probably shopping for a portable heater to supplement their heating needs. So, I'm giving this product a 5-star out-of-the-box review and sharing my enthusiasm for this great little heater. I'll revise this review latter as I can comment on its durability and other features relevant to its long-term use. Side-by-side, this style heater puts out a lot more 'heat' than do the physically smaller, 1500-watt wire-element type portable heaters. It uses a type of dual heating system that includes a method similar to radiant heat, although I'm not totally sold that much of its actual heating capacity is actually infrared-type heading. Nonetheless, it performs remarkably well and I purchased two very similar models apparently made by different branches of the same parent company -- basically the same heater with different cabinets and slightly different controls. They both function admirably, and I recommend them to anyone in the market for this type of heater. I use this heater as the primary heat source for the third-level of my home where I have basically turned off the zone heating for that area. The upper level consists of bedrooms and a large bathroom, and using these types of space heaters (a separate electric heater in the bathroom) has dramatically reduced my monthly heating bills for the past several years. This year, I treated myself (and my little "puppy girls" who sleep with me in our 400 square-foot master bedroom upstairs) to supplemental heat to keep the room in the low 60's as opposed to the mid- to upper-50's where the spill-over heat from the other heating zones manage to passively heat the room. It has certainly made reading in bed at night much more pleasant and even my "girls" appreciate the difference. The heat-output grill does not get hot enough to pose a hazard to my curious little girls, although the blast of heat is strong enough that I keep it at least 7 or 8 feet away pointing towards to lower end of my bed. Hitting me in the face at night is too strong and looses much of the reason for selecting this type of heater which tends to provide a more 'level' heating experience in the room. The thermostat seems to work well and the unit cycles on-and-off surprisingly little, Still, the room stays comfortably warm at the selected low temperature. One of the reasons that I selected the models that I purchased was because the thermostats can be set as low as 50 degrees, and this is very useful for applications where minimal heating is desired. I plan on adding solar radiant heat to my master bedroom eventually and presuming this heater last forever I will repurpose it to another location where I wish to keep the room temperature around 50 degrees. Of course I realize that most products don't seem to last today like they did years back, but the solid construction and simple principle of operation make me optimistic that this is an investment in long-term heating and not just a short-term solution that will last only a heating season or two. If it does fail after a couple of years, I will be very disappointed and revise my review accordingly. (We all have are own opinions on the subject of product longevity, but I believe "make it right, make it last" and am too old to change my orientation now except for extremely cheap products that I consider more-or-less disposable.) For those of you who are expecting this little heater to heat an entire house or apartment, get real. This is a 1500-watt electric heater which is only slightly more than 5,000 BTUs -- that's a very small heater for heating anything except a reasonably well insulated room. Sorry, but what you may want (an inexpensive, relatively low-wattage heater that warms an entire home) doesn't exist because of the laws of physics. Please keep in mind that while electricity is considered by most to be a renewable energy source (despite the fact that most electricity is generated from fossil fuels), the cost per BTU (i.e., heating unit) is usually MUCH greater for electric than for natural-gas heat production. So if you're requiring a primary heating source, look into alternatives. If, on the other hand, you're looking for an easily transportable, supplemental heater, then this is the ticket. Running constantly at full output this heater would consume 36 kilowatts per day. If your paying 12 cents per kilowatt, that's $4.32 per day maximum operating cost. On a monthly basis, you could increase you're electric bill by up to $129.60 (remember, this is presuming that your utility rate is $0.12 per kilowatt or less). Of course it won't be running 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and for those of you who are decreasing the heating requirement on your primary heating system, further savings will be had by the decrease in cost for running your central heating system. This is where the cost savings comes in for me and it's considerable at over $100 per month to heat the upper zone alone. (And it helps save the planet too -- my electricity is generated from the hydroelectric facility at Niagara Falls!) I have a second unit in our family room primarily occupied by my wife who is now resting at a comfortable 69 degrees, while most of that heating zone is set at only 65 degrees and lower depending on the time-of-day. Again, a considerable savings because the primary heating system works less often. Everybody's happy; my wife is nice and toasty and my (our) heating bill is reduced considerably.

best space heater there is for 300 sq. ft. room
injured my back so no firewood hauling this winter what will I do? I really hate being cold. Research shows many choices for 300 sq. ft. area. My area will require 2. Took a chance got one of these and a highly recommended Dreo 718 tower. Apart from this looking like an adorable little piece of furniture it throws heat like a champ. Easily 4 to 5 times more heat than the tower. It takes no more than 20-30 seconds to begin producing a nice warm breeze which if you sit in front of it you better back off about 8 feet or it will dry your eyeballs. I usually never bother with reviews and I don't work for them but I am so impressed by this little dude I wish I would have bought 2 instead of the Dreo. Side note: it seemed to heat even better after a couple days maybe break in period not sure. I LOVE IT SO MUCH nearly silent, remote is simple on/off timer mode and + - temp. Wheels are a nice bonus it's not terribly heavy but easier to roll around then pick up with a bad back. Hope this helps save shoppers some time just get one of these.

PERFECT & IT WORKS GREAT
Great little heater. Perfect middle ground between the huge, wooden heaters that are so popular today but way too big for small spaces....and it throws WAay more heat that other cheap heaters that use the same amount of power. I'm back to get another one for another room. LOVE the remote control, so I can warm up my bathroom without getting out of bed in the AM ! Also love that the remote control does not need reliable household WiFi to work.

It works as advertised. Small footprint
It was helpful to get this as next day shipping while furnace was down. Sale Price was reasonable. I prefer it’s small footprint and look to the wood look cabinet designed one. It adequately heats my general living area and the fan is reasonably quiet at about 46 decibels up close and 35 decibels 9ft away( rated using an app on my phone). Cool to touch. Longevity TBD.

Ankles Hot
Bought used item. It arrived in an Amazon box, a bit too big for the heater but at least it was in a box with packing paper. . I looked at everything and thought for sure somethings missing; screws, legs, remote, but nope everything in it including the manual and no parts missing. Tiny screws, legs and remote all with the item. Including the Stop instructions. Plugged it in and followed instructions and honestly its set to 72 and my ankles are super hot almost too much to bear. It's only been on a few seconds. Seems like a great peoduct. Its heavier than i thought too. Its very quiet, heats up fast and was very easy to use. Surley doesnt seem to consume much energy.

Works better than expected!
I picked this small heater for a bedroom. All the reviews said it was a great little heater. And it's a very reasonable price. I like the Dr. Infrared brand, I've owned another model in the past and was satisfied with it. I especially liked this heater because it has a retro look. And it throws out more heat than expected. In conclusion, I can absolutely recommend this space heather without hesitation. It looks cool and puts out a lot of heat for it's size.

Amazing heaters, remote sucks, beautiful cabinets, wheels
I have two of these heaters and they perform amazingly in bedrooms with slightly undersized(my fault) electric baseboard heaters. I have a home that had larger baseboard heaters that just took up too much wall space, I had planned to put in a heat pump to supplement and replace a coal/wood furnace that I didnt want to deal with. Testing them with the baseboard heaters in bedrooms, the cadet 5 foot baseboards struggle to get past 68 when it dips below 32, these Dr Heaters really pump out the heat fast quickly pushing a 68 room to 74 in less than 20 minutes, they save me alot of money and help in the rooms that probably needed 8 foot baseboards, I would say they would easily outperform the in wall cadet blower models that I considered, they sample the air and turn on and off through the night, no smell, very high quality and def worth the money, I am going to buy my 3rd. The remote is not great, terrible range and you have to push the temp buttons too much but I usually just turn the dial and forget it, I cant say I ever had a register from forced gas ever blow the temperature or the force these heaters push, one cant heat a whole house but if your electrical can handle 1500 watts in your bedrooms they are excellent. Using any heater in basement and below grade is not a good test for these heaters, the ground effect, especially concrete floor will make any portable heater struggle, in my basement they can bring up the temp but would run all night to get up to 68, if I was using this space as fulltime space I would get a wood burner, for what they are and the power these use, 250 watts more than a 5 foot baseboard electric heater they produce significantly more heat, I would put them up against an 8 foot baseboard heater and would bet 1 would outperform the 10 feet of baseboard heat I have below grade, they are that good, easily the best portable heater I ever used, pushing past the oil filled Deloghini's which I felt were pretty good.

It's a cute. well made and compact unit.. but..... (BIG BUT)
I never really like to write negative reviews.. only if the product is awful, which this one IS NOT. The reason for my posting this review is to help others who, like me, have put in a TON of research and all of it points to this unit. Everything I read said that INFRARED space heaters were best of all the types... and this one is a HYBRID, which means that not only is it INFRARED but it also has a fan to help spread the heat. Every website dealing with small portable space heaters invariably pointed to this make and model as the best. HOW CAN SO MANY WEBSITES BE WRONG? The main problem FOR US, is that the unit just didn't have the power needed to heat our space. Even though the specifications cleared indicated it could easily handle our square footage... unfortunately it did not. The intent was to place it in our living room (which is a smallish living room, approx. 320sf) and sadly this cute little guy was clearly out of his league. IF YOU POINT IT DIRECTLY AT YOU and you ARE ALONE.. and it's 3 feet away... YES, it heats like the SUN. But for both myself and my wife, sitting next to each other.. it just couldn't handle it. We would contort our bodies in order to position our freezing feet and legs in a position where the small radiant heat area would cover. In the end, we went with a TALL (29") Ceramic Heater that oscillates... this did the job nicely. And it was $25 cheaper than this unit. SO... again, there is nothing WRONG with this unit.. very well made.. solid.. and it definitely heats.. but if you need it to heat more than one person in a room, it's not going to handle it. Hope this saves others from our research mistakes.

Most Amazing Heater
Although I live in a condo building the central heating sometimes stops working. And I don’t like the dry air it pumps out. Also, once I caught a flu infection. Even though I hadn’t left the apartment in weeks. I believe the infection came from the heating vents. So I tried this heater. Easy to set up. Just plug it in. Use controls on the heater, or the remote control. Set the temperature you want for the room. It heats the room within 20 minutes. And keeps it at set temperature. Incredibly quiet. Beautiful looking. Compact. With tip-over protection. This is a 2 bedroom apartment. Within 24 hours the whole apartment was the same temperature. And it retains the humidity. No dry air. No cold areas. Can walk around in a T-shirt when it’s freezing outside. Very pleased with this purchase.Thank you Dr.Infrared, and Amazon.

Ligero y efectivo
