I love this harddrive!!
This is a great harddrive - not many for the price I paid at the time (£95 - I think it was on sale) that have a USB-C connection with a 5TB capacity! I bought this harddrive to store all my Premiere Pro, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve files on, and use it when creating videos for my YouTube channel (same name as my Amazon if you want to check me out ;) ). It runs really well, never slow loading and has been very reliable for over a year for me. It's got a nice metallic design, and comes with a USB-A adapter. I would recommend this portable harddrive to anyone who's looking for something great.

Ultra reliable
I've used WD Passports for years. This new one is so fast and loads/records brilliantly. Just plug in and go, so easy. I've still got my old WD Passport which is over 10 years old and still working perfectly (just not big enough).

Reliable Back-Up Disk
Addition to my 2TB My Passport Ultra. Arrived on time and has been used successfully for backup and assume it will perform for many years as my old 2TB Ultra

Great capacity, poor support
The support I refer to is from WD, not the vendor, who is exemplary in delivering a working product on time. The drive has consistently stopped my PC from booting up and the usual subjects aren't to blame. WD have definitely encountered this problem many times but leave it to the forums to work out a bios fix. Not funny because I'm in my third week of having to manually boot. If you aren't technically minded, this is far from plug, play and forget, so you'd better hope you have good support from your PC provider, because you aren't getting any from WD. As of writing this, my PC supplier is still struggling to overcome it.

Lots of storage coupled with fast writing speed
Bought this one after trying a Seagate 2TB and Transcend 2TB Slim. This replaces a ten year old chunky Maxtor with writing speeds of just under 1.5 mbps. I wanted a larger drive to backup three pc's and two laptops, and didn't really know what to expect from the new generation of external drives. Pleasant surprise. Windows discovered the drive straight away. Used the short cable provided and immediately got a write speed of 120 MBPS, which to me is supersonic. The USB-C cable is a plus, as is the security software. The actual drive space is 4.54 TB, which is enough to back up my three PC's. The cosmetic finishing on the drive makes it feel genuinely premium and I also bought the protective case to go with it. This one is more expensive than the main competitors like Seagate but the security feature and cloud backup- and USB-C connection- makes it worth the twenty pounds extra. One word of caution- I tried it with a longer generic USB-C cable and the speed dropped to 20 MBPS. This one is a beauty

Looks good, works well, not any downsides in my opinion
Nice and small, easy to carry around also quiet unlike my older hard drive. I use it for games currently for modern warfare and most of my steam games on it. Loads at a suitable rate obviously don't expect it to be the fastest. You get about 4.7tb not 5tb because it is partitioned but didn't mind that.

I lost all my files and photos
I use it for back up of old files, and some original photos. It works well at first, but after few months, I took it out and tried to load more data in it. The PC could not recognize the disk drive with a error code 43. I tried different port, different cable, and even different PC, it's still the same error code 43. I asked the company if they could help retrieve the data. They said something like you could change for a new one but the data is not guarantee. I have no choice but return it to Amazon. But now I am worried if there would be any personal details leakage. If they can recover the data, the staff do not only see my past project, they will know my name, day of birth, my passport number, address, phone number, and even some clients names. Oh, what should I do?

Compact and reliable
I work with video editing on PC and these days I "consume" these drives at an incredible pace since I need to take material between offices and to/from clients. I have used many other brands. Of course Apple has its own high level drives and there are a couple of brands that are even more "pro" than the WD MyPassport, but they are also twice the price! There are also some comparable or cheaper priced products and since I am lugging around my laptop with these drives in the font pocket, I have had errors and failed drives with the other brands - to my horror! But this one, the WD MyPassport both in Ultra and Normal config (the interface is different) are both super reliable so far. I've dropped one and my heart stopped... but oh miracle it worked after with no errors! Of course it's not toughened with rubber in the corners, but it's compact and pretty robust. I can fit 6 in my laptop bag front pocket. A bit heavy, but that's the best around at the moment, short of breaking the bank.

i just bought a second one what more do you need to now? read on ;-)
i'm an it professional and i use this disk for several things. (read below) i think this is the best value for your money as a backup disk. it's not the best because that would be getting a docking station and an internal disk that way you know 100% what type of disk is in the inside. Also it has a usb-c port instead of regular usb-a port or mini or what ever. That's the best connection you can get for something you are going to be connecting and disconnecting a lot. in fact i just returned a different version of this disk because id did not have usb-c .. And before you ask yes you can use a usb-c to usb-a cable and adapter without any problems. it's 100% compatible with all operating systems And performance is way better then non usb-3 spinning disks. I use this disk to backup my nvme 970 pro in all my laptops. And the two 970pro's i use as fast external storage.. That's write i have several external backup disks. This physical spinning rust disk or mechanical hard drive is only for home use as a bulk backup or when i need to transfer large files like movies to watch somewhere in house. The benefit is i don't have to care about wearing out my SSD. in my case not a real problem as i use MLC ssd's instead of TLC or even QLC. But still i am paranoid when it comes to storage. i have partitioned the disk and use different filesystem types for different operating systems. exFAT if i need to read/write on windows and Linux and macos. And a ext4 partition to only use on Linux. i like to use native filesystems when i do a lot of read/write on a partition. Most if not all the times where i need to access a partition on different operating systems it's small data like documents. The least discriminating operating system is Linux that's what i use to format and partition all my disks using Gparted. But i suppose you can do that on windows ?
