From chapped lips to dog baths… Burt’s Bees didn’t miss
I already trust Burt’s Bees for my own life (mainly my perpetually chapped lips, let’s be honest), so when I saw they made a dog shampoo, I had one of those “well obviously I have to try it” moments. My dogs didn’t exactly vote on it, but they got bathed anyway. I picked this up mainly because I wanted something gentle. Dogs and human skin are not the same thing, and I’ve learned the hard way that using random products “because it smells nice” is not a great strategy for pet care. So I wanted something that was made specifically with their skin in mind, especially since one of mine gets a little itchy from time to time. First thing I noticed is that it’s very mild. It doesn’t have that strong, artificial fragrance hit that a lot of pet shampoos go for. It’s more subtle and clean, which I actually prefer because I don’t want my dogs smelling like a perfume counter. The formula is low-lather, which surprised me at first because I’m used to thinking “more foam = more clean.” But it actually rinses out really easily, which makes bath time less of a wrestling match. And anything that shortens bath time automatically earns points in my house. What I like most is how their coats feel afterward. They come out softer and smoother without feeling stripped or dry. I’ve also noticed less scratching after baths, which is really the main reason I reached for this in the first place. It also feels reassuring knowing it’s made with a high natural-origin formula and skips the harsh stuff like sulfates and dyes. It just feels more intentional and gentle overall, which matters when it comes to something you’re using regularly on pets. If I had a small caveat, it’s that the low-lather texture takes a second to get used to if you’re expecting a traditional shampoo experience. But once you adjust, it actually makes sense for how gentle it is. At around $8, the value is really solid for a pet-specific, gentle formula from a brand I already trust. Overall, this turned out to be one of those simple swaps that made bath time feel a little easier and a lot more comfortable for my dogs.

Best itch shampoo I’ve used for my dog that ACTUALLY helped
Before using this, my dog was itching so badly he had bald spots and bleeding from biting himself. I used Burt’s Bees Itch Soothing Shampoo along with coconut oil and limiting scratching, and his skin is now almost completely healed. This shampoo has little to no scent, which I liked for soothing irritated skin. After the itching improved, I alternated with the Burt’s Bees Manuka Honey & Oatmeal Shampoo—it smells amazing and keeps his coat fresh. His coat is now shiny, fuller, thicker, healing fast, and he’s itching much less. Incredible value, high-quality ingredients, and no unnecessary additives. Highly recommend. 🐶🤍 Ideas to get started: • Take clear before photos of irritated areas • Use consistently 1–2x per week • Let the shampoo sit a few minutes before rinsing • Follow with a gentle moisturizer like coconut oil • Switch to the Manuka Honey shampoo once itching improves

Itch stopped
The shampoo worked great in the fact that my dog was no longer itching. Unfortunately, because the shampoo is not thick at all, it took a lot of shampoo to give my male blue healer a bath. His hair is thick and the shampoo was very watery feeling and took a lot to suds up.

Have bought more than my share and will continue to buy more
I love this product my dogs love it too not only does it make him smell good but it really does work I have a long hair dog and a short haired dog and it works great on both I think that it is very very great on your pocketbook it rinses out pretty decent although like any long-haired dog things usually take a minute to get out because you have to make sure that all the soap is out of that long hair but for short hair dog it's quick to get out it does work great on their hair and they do smell awesome the value that you spend on money is a great value you get out of it

Seems to help the itch, no smell and poor lather
This shampoo does not lather much at all. That probably makes it rinse better and helps with the anti-itch, but means you will go through a lot more if you are trying to wash a medium to long haired dog. There is almost no scent at all, again probably helps with the anti-itch but since it says honesuckle I expected it to have some scent. It did leave the fur soft and seems to have helped a little with my husky's recent bout of itchy skin.

It really works
We just added a dog to the family and immediately noticed that she was scratching and nibbling. So bad that it kept us up at night. When I found this on Amazon I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad I did. We put her in the tub and bathed her with this shampoo. As others have mentioned, we didn’t get a lot of suds, but we worked it into her very short hair. The difference in her behavior was like night and day. She was able to sleep peacefully and most of the scratching and nibbling stopped. There had been small scabs on her skin and the hair was gone in patches. The last time I checked the scabs were gone and the skin was smooth. I’m sure we will see the hair growing back soon. I have tried many other anti-itch shampoos in the past without good results but this is the real deal. Now for the spray. For some reason when I tried to review that it brought me back to the shampoo. The spray works great for instant relief, but only when I can catch the dog. She is terrified of the spray and won’t let me near her when she sees it in my hand. To remedy that, if I see her nibbling I soak a soft cloth with the spray and wipe her down. She lets me do that and the nibbling stops. I think both of them together will at leasts slow down the itch and make her more comfortable.

Better than any prescription
This is only our experience. One of our dogs had raw spots in coat, abdomen, and legs. We tried all of the vet prescribed shampoos (three vets), and several prescribed oral anti-fungals. Oral anti-fungals have a lot of side effects. We tried many medicated OTC shampoos. The Bert’s Bees shampoo calmed his coat and he quit scratching and chewing. We use this every third day. It leaves his coat soft. He smells clean, but no perfume smell. If you read my reviews, you’ll see I don’t take free samples or incentives. I’m too old to sell out. As I mentioned, this worked best for us.

Best quality for store brand
Really good dog shampoo on the lower price end. Worked well for my short-haired beagle “Penny”. However, not good enough for my long-haired golden retriever “Pippa”. The lather doesn’t penetrate down to the skin no matter how much product I used. (Half the bottle gone after one bath) lol. I’ve had to switch to a higher end product.
