So much inside for the cost. Good quality item, my son loved this!
Bit late but I thought I’d write my review of this product I got my 9 year old son for Christmas last year. When he opened this present he was very happy to say the least and I was surprised at how much you get inside the box and he now displays them in his bedroom and wants even more boxes of these but the bigger ones now, maybe a birthday idea in mind. Great price and product, one happy boy, thank you.

Great, educational gift - missing pieces but great customer support
My son loved it, but the fact sheet and the guide were both missing, which makes it really hard to know what everything is. I initially struggled to get in contact with the buyer but they soon got back to me and they have been super helpful in organising a refund and helping with the missing fact sheets. Very impressed with their customer service and despite the missing guide book and info sheet this is an excellent gift if your kids like fossils, stones and rockes etc.

Slightly disappointed
Expected a decent sized box.. let's say about the size of a monopoly game box.. Instead it was about the size of of a tablet device. Few ok sized stones fair enough about 10.. .. but 2 bags of what was basically very small aquarium gravel.. quarter the size of a pea... Considering no stones are precious or of any value.. just education of course it would be nicer to have a few medium and larger sized rocks rather than a mix of hundreds of particles. 280+ of the stones are barely visible and will end up in the bin as can't display. My son loves geology he's not got the gift for his birthday yet.. coming soon.. At least I got on black Friday deal.. still feel a bit ripped off.. wouldn't advise paying full price. But I guess u pay the national geographic brand tax. Essentially u get 2 tiny geodes size of a cherry tomato.. 2 bags of polished aquarium gravel.. but smaller.. 1 bag of about 8 polished stones about the size of a small marble. And a shot glass of fossils u can fit all on a table spoon.. And a couple of leaflets a tiny plastic magnifying glass and a tiny pouch.. Worth maybe £20 max full price for online.. £30 in-store pushing it..

Very popular birthday present for a 6 year old
This has gone down very well. It's a good mix of different things, with some activities and a wide range of stones. Definitely can confirm it's a great gift for a 6 year old, when they have friends over there's plenty to do and see in the set. Would buy again :)

Purchased this for my 6 year old son who loves collecting shiny things like crystals and rocks. Would have been nice to have a more detailed booklet - not that its going to be read by the child, but it would be a good addition. I did note that many of the stones were much smaller than what appears in the video. There were a few bigger ones, but most were smaller than my pinky nail. Came with some fossils and a neat little clear case to put some items in. We did have to purchase a container to put everything in and sort it out. The bag is not big enough.

Große Verpackung, kleiner Inhalt... Ich habe selber noch viel gewaschen und geschliffen um zu erkennen was es sein soll. Teilweise war wirklich sehr viel härtere Sand dran, so das meine Kinder das nicht zuordnen konnten.

I’ve always trusted National Geographic so didn’t question the quality of the stones. A great selection of well sized stones to add to my collection. The smaller chips are also a great size. The bag is way too small to house the larger stones but would be suitable to hold a few at a time. The magnifying glass is pointless and the info about the stones could be more informative but for the price, its totally worth it for all ages!

I bought it for me. Not a kid. I love rocks. Wish this was around when I was a kid. All the specimens are amazing and interesting to look at. The booklet and poster are great. The cracked geode was only as big as a marble. That made me laugh. But it's cute. The other two unbroken geodes are about the size of eggs. Love the fossils, shiny rocks, and raw pieces. I already have display ideas. Including using the chip pieces as a bed to display a couple of different personal items. Maybe in a glass jar. There is a plastic display case that came with this, too. I would love a follow-up set. Will keep my eyes peeled. I think this would be a great gift for a kid who shows interest in this sort of thing, as I did when I was a kid. I used to bring rocks home for my mother as gifts. That's the kind of kid who might really love this.
