does this display work with a macbook pro?

Hey, Jackleen, it sure will, but you will need compatible cable(s). In my case I have to use full 24 pin DVI cable http://www.amazon.com/Insten-POTHDVIX6F01-Gold-Plated-Digital-9-9Gbps/dp/B000E8SY5G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1456150455&sr=8-1&keywords=24+pin+DVI, otherwise I had resolution issue (not higher than 1920x1080) and picture was blurry.

Does this display need a special DVI cable to work?

I found that it works well with a standard DVI cable. No problem.

I see in your description that this product (eizo cg227-bk) is only 220v. is that a typo? eizo shows 120v and 220v for this model.

Based on Eizo's website, the CG227 supports both 120V and 220V, hope that was helpful.
