Versatile Antenna!
I had a need to put up a base antenna for 10/11 meters that was smaller than a full size based antenna. I tried experimenting with several different antennas from a dipole put up as an inverted V to a several different mobile antennas. Eventually I tried this K40 BCMax antenna on a 5' mast. It worked really well but the SWR was a bit high. I added a 104" radial wire to the mounting bracket and stretched it out at a 45 degree angle. Viola! The SWR is 1:1 on channel 19 and 1.3 on channels 1 and 40. The receive capability of this antenna is better than anything else I've put up. My first call on 38LSB was answered immediately by a mobile station 15 miles away. Overall, for the price its an outstanding antenna that has exceeded my expectations!

Great workin antenna, but loosens at mount-threads widening.
Great antenna - gets out loud and proud. Easy to tune. Was able to get down to 1.5 SWR with little effort. Main complaint is antenna keeps coming loose at base. There's no way to tighten it other than hand tight and with the aluminum base I fear if I use more force it may strip the threads. Threads already seem to be loose after driving only a couple thousand miles. yes, I've hit a few low tree branches - this thing is tall and my mount area does not permit a forward angle mounting - so I have to go straight up. That probably has something to do with it, but it seems the vibration of the wind and road is what continually has this thing coming loose. I literally have to tighten it ever few hundred miles. No instructions. No PDF available for download. I called K40 and they said they'll have someone call me back. I also had issues with a k40 beehive stud mount that arrived with a mounting nut that had the incorrect threading. I'm currently in search of a way to better secure this antenna. Other reviews I have read state the heavy duty springs don't help much with this antenna as it will bend at highway speeds. I have kept my mount just tight enough to secure the antenna while allowing for some give if I strike an overhead object. Next time around I will avoid K40 due to the lack of any instructions on both the beehive stud mount and this antenna that I purchased and the inability to locate any online. Even the customer service rep that promised to have someone else call me back stated he did not believe there are any instructions available. I was hoping he could email me something in pdf. Sure hope I get a call with some answers. Very frustrating. I understand that Monkeymade antenna's are the best built, but they do not have an adjustable (tuneable tip)and I don't want to cut the tip to achieve best SWR as I may move my set to another vehicle in the near future (Big Rig).

This is a wicked antenna for so many reasons especially for us living in rural Northern Ontario. We purchased for our vehicle and also for our house we attached one to our wind turbine tower for our base and portable. Some people complained about noise and or feedback we have not experienced that as of yet. We are using the absolute best UNIDEN BEARCAT 885 Hybrid CB Scanner radios and with these antennas it is amazing we are picking up everything. Highly recommend both if you definitely want to get all emergency notifications etc.
