Trusted protection
Clamping voltage 330. Joules are more about how many hits the unit can take. Clamping voltage is about how high the voltage will be allowed to spike. Many units with high joule ratings have a higher clamping voltage but it is the spike that fries your equipment, not the joules, and this has an excellent rating for clamping voltage. Units are small enough to be unobtrusive. It has LED lights to let you know things are working properly and when to replace. And Tripp Lite is all my IT company trusts to protect electronics. Never once had to use their guarantee against failure - they don't fail. Design is cool - you can put wall warts on the bottom inputs so you don't lose real estate to big transformers. Reasonable price for peace of mind.

I have never lost one thing
We have a lot of digital and electronics in my house and most would be too expensive to replace if we had a power surge or a lightening strike. Every single thing in my house that needs protecting, from coffee maker to an expensive room purifier are all on Tripp Lite Surge protectors. I got this one to go on my bedside table. On my bedside table I have a portable house phone and a digital electric alarm clock. I also have a bedside lamp right next to the head of my bed. Since I live in a mobile home there is not much room to between beds and furniture. I had another surge protector for all the things I mentioned but it was so wide that it did not leave much room on my bedside table. I bought this one and because it is narrow it saved a lot of room on my bedside table so that I was even able to add a box of Kleenex to the table. Now I have all of the things I mentioned in the above plugged into this surge protector as well as my Kindle Charger is also plugged in. Everything is now more accessible and I don't have to move my bed to get to an electrical socket to plug or unplug my devices/equipment. As far as the protection itself goes, in all the years I have been using Tripp Lite Surge protectors I have never lost one thing that was plugged into them--and we have a lot of power surges and storms here where I live. I find them very reliable and would always buy this name brand.

Quality surge protector
After searching for a lot of surge protectors both in Amazon and in physical stores, I believe this is THE best one for the price, clamping and amount of joules it tolerates, by far. Plenty of other reviews explain it better, but basically you *need* the clamping voltage to be as low as possible if you want to actually protect your stuff from power spikes (briefly put it's how much voltage it takes for the strip to detect the surge as such). This one is L-N 330 V - L-G 400 V - N-G 400 V, as low as it can get without the price getting ridiculous. Not only that, but there's plenty of surge "protectors" out there with bigger clamping numbers that cost more. Then there's the joules, which is how much the surge protector will tolerate before turning into a power strip. This number isn't important for the protection of your connected devices, but for its durability before replacement (which you should do if, again, you want to actually protect your stuff).

Feels high quality for a low price
For such a low price on this power strip, the body of the power strip feels substantial with thick plastic. It's too thick to have any give when you squeeze it. The seam doesn't creak like cheap plastic molded junk does. The plugs go in smoothly and completely and are gripped well with no danger of falling out. The best thing for me is that the cord is heavy and made of some kind of rubber on the outside instead of plastic. It means that it doesn't hold a stiff shape and can easily be routed around things to stay where you put it. It has a low-profile, right-angle plug where the cord comes out diagonally just to the right side of the ground pin if the pin is facing down.

Good, could be improved...
Bought 2 of these. One for a new PC Build and one for general use. Pro's: The right angle plug is very handy and a must when putting cords behind bookcases, furniture, etc. Safe and reliable. Con's: Cord Length: I wish they sold this model in other cord lengths. Sometimes a 7' cord is way too much. A 3' or 4' cord option would be great for places where one just doesn't need the extra cord. I know I could go with an off brand, but have had way too much success with Tripp Lite to change. Switch: As stated by other reviewer's, the switch can easily be shut off by mistake, and I agree that Tripp Lite needs to address this issue. Incident: I mistakenly put one of these by my birds cage and accidentally spilled some water into the outlets. I immediately unplugged it from the wall, shook it out and tried to dry the best I could. I started to remove the screws to take the strip apart (so I could make sure all was dry) but found that Tripp Lite had used three regular Phillips screws and three one way security screws which forbid me from opening it up. I can understand that Tripp Lite does not want to let anyone void their warranty and not be able to open it as a result, but in my case I had spilled water which already voided my ability to return it. I let the strip dry out for a few days, and plugged it back in and it works, so I got lucky. The ground and protected lights are both on. Whew. :)

Protect against lightning strikes!
Twice have had lightning strike close by and take out some appliances because they were not on surge protectors. In fact the one strike hit a tree and fried the computer in two cars near the tree. Learned my lesson after second strike! Purchased Tripp Lite surge protectors since they make a great product.

good quality and features
convenient power strip, all the right angles, good build quality, compact size, all the features that I needed and none that I did not, easy to use, for those ordering, I suggest checking the angle of the plugs and the spacing in between the plugs

Excellent product!
Purchased due to the side mount plugs which are convenient for large power plugs, e.g. modem and router plugs. Only complaint would be the angled configuration of the unit's plug itself. Wall plug wanted to use adjacent to a divider in new wall unit and angled cord plug would not fit so had to rearrange routing and the components being served. Another reason for purchase is experience with an identical protector which is more than 5 years old and trouble-free.
