If you don't know where to start with Excel VBA, this book is very helpful. Don't mistake the beginning for the end: this book points you in the right direction, but it can't help you MASTER VBA. If you follow the directions, you will learn how to start exploring the world of VBA and how to teach yourself--this book is only meant to give you the framework to hang later learnings upon. Overall, very clear, a well-thought-out sequence, and I LOVED the intro to "object oriented programming." Ignore reviews complaining that the book didn't tell them how to do this or that particular thing. The purpose is to get you oriented, and to empower you to start looking for other resources to solve this or that particular problem. The book does a marvelous job in outlining the main points of what Excel VBA is all aobut.

I recently was offered training in VBA by a mentor and he pointed me to this book. I think it's a great start for all levels of programmers. Like many programming languages, there are similar nuances but the key words differ. This book does a great job of slowly diving in and easing you into VBA. The examples and exercises that come with the book also help tremendously. Reading and learning the language can only go so far, case study and practical examples is what really gets you acclimated to creating macros.

This book is good to use as a course in Excel VBA. It starts out easy at the beginning and then gets into more complex concepts. I deducted a star because I have found it much easier to search online for specific code than to spend more time paging through this book to find the answers. If I had more time, I would use this as a course in Excel VBA, but so far I have gotten along just fine by searching online.

This book didn’t turn me into a VBA pro, but it definitely was the biggest help in my library in learning VBA. I had some programming experience in other languages prior to picking up VBA, but this brought me up to speed. Expect for this book to get you started in VBA and maybe get you to an intermediate level

VBA programming for MAC is different from the Windows version. I have been told by Excel "experts' not to even bother with the Mac version. Still the book is somewhat helpful because the syntax for both versions is the same. The VBA editor and program management tools for Excel for MAC are pathetic and the book cannot help.

This book is an easy read. The language is simple and human. This is a programming book written for the novice who wants to get a grasp on Excel VBA programming. I've read the first two chapters at this point and I feel like I've learned a good bit and it has stuck. I don't feel like I have to go back and study a lot since I apply it as I read it. I really enjoy the practices that goes along with what you're learning. There's no better way to learn that actually doing it!

Never one to avoid a challenge, I decided to learn VBA for some of my more advanced spreadsheets. I was an IT professional in my pre-retirement life so programming was something I truly enjoyed. This book, or rather what I've learned from it, has been a source of enjoyment for me and will continue to be for some time. John Walkenbach's writing style is new to me. Having teethed on IBM's "Principles of Operation" to learn BAL (Basic Assembler Language) the use of humor in the text was genuinely appreciated. I've learned a lot from this book that has helped with some real-life problems I've encountered with Excel.

If this book is for dummies I must need the book for the extremely dumb. Could not even get the 1st sample macro to work properly and I have wrote a few of my own prior to buying this book. I have Excel 2010 and 2016 and neither one worked. Thank you Amazon for taking returns.

5 Stars because it hit the mark for a For Dummies book. I'm considering a work problem and this got me thinking about some of the wider issues I need to consider, beyond code, that have be taken into account. That said the book is primarily for developers and technical users.

Best book on excel VBA.

Ottimo libro. Molto chiaro e molto utile per avvicinarsi alla programazione VBA in Excel e acqusire una visione d'insieme del linguaggio di programmazione, delle sue regole e su come utilizzarlo al meglio. Mi è stato molto più utile questo libro che certe "bibbie" da oltre 1000 pagine. Poi, per andare in profondità su certe tematiche e soluzioni applicative non c'è comunque risorsa migliore che il web.

It does adress VBA learning from the very basics of it. Helps build understanding for the nex learning level, for sure.
