Outstanding IT Band Syndrome Solution
After many marathon and half-marathon races, the repeated pavement-pounding and cross-training stresses began to take their toll on me at the 21st mile mark of a marathon event in 2013. Experiencing radial discomfort outside of my left knee, I was soon unable to run without experiencing excruciating pain. I finished the race thinking I had injured my knee when, in fact, I had strained my Iliotibial (or IT) band. For those unfamiliar, the IT band is a wide tendon or "fascia" responsible for raising the leg up and down. It extends from outside of the pelvis and down the leg to a point behind the knee. When it gets strained, it tightens up significantly, compressing nerves on the side of the leg - leading to pain outside of the knee. To continue my training, I needed a solution and found it in this adjustable strap. It relieved the pressure on the band, allowing it to heal while I was able to continue running (albeit at a more moderate pace). In about three months - while continuing to run - I was able to increase my distance to where it had been. As a result, I was able to run three marathons in 2014 and one half-marathon due to the relief the band gave me. If you have ever experienced this injury - or want to use it to prevent one - I would highly recommend this product. The only drawback is that, for someone who runs 20-30 miles per week, it is effective for only about 3 months. Yet, despite this, it is nonetheless a near-perfect IT injury antidote or prevention for the long-distance runner.

IT Band strap
I've had IT band issues for years, and have tried a long list of attempted solutions. Using this strap seems to help a bit. It's certainly no miracle cure as some would have you believe, but I find my knees hurt less at the end of a run when I use it, and my knees usually last a little bit longer while running. I tried using it just on one knee for a few weeks, and by the end there was a noticeable difference in the pain between my knees. It does tend to slip down a bit over the course of a run, but I think anything would. I just reach down every mile or two and slide it back up. If you've been having IT band problems for awhile, and the usual prescriptions aren't cutting it (foam rolling, icing, pain pills, stretching, hip-strengthening), give this strap a shot and see if it helps.

This product works!
I have been having some issues with pain and weakness on the outside of my knee for the past few weeks. Running made it worse and it would take a few days to a week to resolve. I did some research online and decided to try this product in case it was my IT band giving me trouble. I strapped it on for a one-mile run and felt fine. I wanted to go further, but didn't want to push it. There was no knee pain or weakness afterwards. Two days later, I put on the IT band strap and ran for 3.5 miles, which is my usual distance. I had a twinge of pain near the end of that run, but it resolved with some work on weight machines and a decent amount of stretching. I think this product definitely mitigates any IT band irritation from running. I don't think I would have been able to run this week at all without it. I will continue to use it and be conservative with my running until I am 100%, but I think it is a great tool to help stabilize the IT band and minimize pain and irritation. In fact, I am considering using it every time I run to avoid IT band injuries altogether.

Not for significant IT band issues
If you have bad IT band pain, this isn't enough to keep the band from moving around. There isn't a solid pad to put the amount of pressure needed to keep the IT band in place. If you have minor knee pain, this might help. But it's not for heavy-duty pressure or help to keep the IT band in place.

Helps Patella Femoral Syndrome
In short my knee cap on my left leg sits very high (genetic defect) so I was having some major pain on the inside of my knee when I increased my training. Even though this strap is intended for the ITB, I found that it helped to push my knee cap down a bit, which is what I needed, to help alleviate a great of my pain. The buckle-like closure aids in pulling the band tight for a little compression. The band will slip if you are using it for exercise and sweat heavily. I might have to adjust it once or twice on longer runs (10 miles or more) but that's a non-issue for me. I experience a little chaffing but that is due to heavy sweating.

Love it
I shop online daily but this is the first review I've ever written but felt it necessary to write one for this band. I've been struggling with IT band pain for a month or two. I've been averaging 6 miles a day on the elliptical and recently the pain on the outside of my knee has become overwhelming. I went online to self-diagnose and found a foam roller to be the hands down solution; however, I saw this band and thought I'd give it a try. I ordered it and a foam roller at the same time but the band showed up sooner so I strapped it on and was amazed at how quickly it remedied the pain. This may not be the long term solution, but I would strongly suggest investing in one of these bad boys even if it's a short term fix.

SHORT,
This neoprene band is 20”. My adult male dad build thigh is 19”. It is way much too short to be useful. The band, because it’s nowhere near as long as depicted in the sales picture, it quickly gets much to tight an circulation is cit off. It will make for a comfortable tourniquet. I intend to return this item as it useless. Recommend people purchase a similar item that the length is specified. Beware of deceptive advertising, especially on Amazon.

Works great, but non-slip is ineffective on bare skin
Together with a regime of physio, rehab exercises & form correction, this device helped me go from experiencing excruciating pain after 1 mile of running to a negligible discomfort after 3 miles within a matter of 2 weeks. I will caution any intending use to alleviate ITBS from direct contact with skin during strenuous activity, as it is prone to slippage unless worn over an article of clothing. It has withstood a few grueling runs, and while I don't expect it to last forever, the strap seems on pace to overcoming this temporary ailment. Highly recommended.
