## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this safe for cleaning the sensor on a Sony A6000 camera?**
A: Yes, I would assume so. I use this on my Nikon D7000. Just take your time and use their swipes to gently drag the "wet" swipe across your sensor and check it with a test photo on your computer to see if you cleaned it enough. Be sure to check carefully the size of your sensor and get the correct side swipes.

**Q: Is this safe to use for cleaning the electronic viewfinder of a Sony a6300 camera?**
A: This is safe to clean the SENSOR.

**Q: Anyone used this on a Sony A6000? Thanks!**
A: We use it on Sonys all the time!

**Q: The amazon notes on this product say: the only wet method endorsed by any camera manufacturer. really? which manufacturers?**
A: Read this all if you want a basic understanding of this. Camera manufacturers don’t “endorse it” per se nor would they endorse such a product. Why would they?? They make quite a bit of money off all their customers sending their cameras in , so if they “endorsed it” they’d lose a ton of easy cash.

BUT…… they will tell you (at least Nikon) that personally that’s what they use (just mineral spirits I believe) it’s the only thing they’d tell you to use.

How good it works has more to do with the user, it cleans everything great but it’s only as good as some variables are that you control.

1. Got dust floating around? If so then don’t blame the cleaner when room dust is always on there. What I do is rocket blower the inside & sensor with camera facing floor so dust can’t fall in it. Before that I will run a 5 minute hot shower, leave until it cools but not to long. steam will grab dust & kamikaze into the floor giving you a better dust free room for 20 minutes or so.

2. At min use pec-pads

3. Commercial swabs are terrible, they’re too weak & swabs grab dust & debris from fabric around sensor & can leave puddles on sensor, especially the pre-packaged ones & you have to use a precise pattern around the sensor so you start & end in a corner without messing up.
IF you do use a swab or pre-moistened one let in breath a few moments to let some evaporate off… I learned this lesson 20 min before I shot a wedding… cleaning those pics up added another week in post.

Better than using swabs though is finding these really small spatulas, I think this same company sells them for like a $1. Much better, but…

3. I still have those swabs, some are 2 together and heat shrunk together. There’s spatulas too…

All that changed one day when I stumbled across a video (training video I think) produced (loose saying…lol) at a Nikon factory where they showed tech cleaning sensors & I was shocked.

He grab a camera, a pad, then blew my mind as he raised up & wrapped the pad around a………. Wait for it……… a freaking chopstick!!!! Secured pad then dipped in a bowl (again, I believe it was mineral spirits, which I believe is what eclipse is) flipped camera cover on bench & took chopstick dead center of sensor & started in circles in to sides, then looked with a light and done.
The whole process took <30 seconds probably. Of course I’m sure he was in dust free room.

I took a shish kebab stick, cut it down & sanded smooth then a lil mod. Took the cleaning end and ran it over sandpaper at 45° angle on 2 sides,. Grabbed a pec-pad & tried to wrap it & it ended up looking like a boxing glove. Was the hardest part to figure out. Answer was cutting a pad in 2 pieces (I did this in a big ziplock the tools stay in there now, dust is a nightmare so I leave supplies in bag & wear anti static gloves). With smaller pieces of pad I just fold in half horizontally then again length wise, then just put sanded angled end in the middle of bend, will be extra width on both sides, take extra on each side & fold one side one way angle pad back so it’s up away from the point of stick, do same on other side. Putting them opposite each other keeps the bulk down, then take 1 small, long, thin address label & wrap it around like tape to hold pad on, sounds odd but you’ll understand why, then 2 drops eclipse, wait 8 sec

The reason you fold the pad is to double it up for softer touch with stick supplying the backbone but with more control than a swab.
