Yes, the range bore sticks saturated in Clenzoil are not cheap. However, Clenzoil is a fine cleaner and lubricant and the bore stix do a very good cleaning and lube job in a pinch.

The beauty of these is the speed and simplicity of using them for routine light cleaning after a session at the range. Pull a couple out, run it through barrel few times, and the worst of the barrel fouling is wiped out. Then just throw away. No hassle with patches or threading strings down barrels. But it can’t replace a rigid rod or pull through with bronze brush for scrubbing out gilding metal & lead. The cotton on the end holds up well, and the stick is strong and flexes without breaking. I recommend using plain cotton swabs in bore diameter available after using to dry excess Klennzoil. Pretty expensive compared to cleaning rod, patches, and bottle of Hoppes, but you’re paying for convenience.

I initially only bought the 45 and 40 cal thinking that the 40 would squeeze down to fit a 357/9MM but the heads are stiffer than that. Worked great for clearing carbon though, followed this with a snake, and I barely saw any color on the first CLP patch that went through (only ran 50 rounds before the cleaning, though).

I like these a lot and they are durable enough to be reusable. I use them once things are clean to spread around this protectant. Pretty convenient.

This is great for pistol and even better for your Ruger mark I II III. I like the idea and really like the cleaning oil. Clenzoil is the absolute best
