Simply mount the Sensor on your mailbox door using double-sided tape (included) and plug the Receiver into an electrical outlet anywhere in your home. When your mailbox is opened, the Receiver will beep four times to tell you that you have mail. It will also light up a bright red LED bulb that you'll be sure to see, in case you didn't hear the beeps. Review: Awesome Product and Amazing company - I am so in love with my mail chime. This product has been so awesome for me, and I hope it will be the same for you. The company is so amazing and so humble, and they are always there to help and support you. Review: It works! - It works! My mailbox is about five car lengths from the house. I can't see the mailbox or hear the mail truck. A mailbox with a lock would prevent theft, but not alert me when the mail arrived. There’s one that has a yellow flag that pops up, but I would have to go outside to see it (and thieves would know mail was inside). So this seemed like the best solution, to avoid multiple trips to check for mail. The chime receiver box takes up little counter space (3.25 x 4.25 inches). The two prongs on the outlet plug are the same size, so it fits older outlets as well. It can also be turned either way, if another plug is on the same outlet. First to check if it was functioning, I went down the hallway and tilted the transmitter bar in my hand. The receiver, plugged into the same outlet as the landline phone, worked. But when the transmitter was installed on the mailbox, it didn’t. So I tried another outlet nearby, and it works. The battery that was included worked. I bought a new battery, so it will last longer. The A23 battery is small (almost half the size of AAA), and the hardware store keeps it behind the customer service counter. Be sure it’s A23, as there are other batteries about the same size. It cost about $4. The screws to remove the transmitter cover require a small Phillips screwdriver (size 2.4 mm). When replacing the cover, hold it up to the light to see that the screw holes line up. There is a right or wrong way to fit it. My mailbox seems to be coated or made of vinyl. As a reviewer suggested, I cleaned the door with alcohol, before applying the adhesive-backed transmitter. It’s been one month, and it’s firmly attached. I’ll report back if the warm weather affects the glue later. If this mail chime doesn’t work for your mailbox location, you might consider it for other uses around the house or property. For instance, to call a family member to dinner or if you need assistance. Just pick up the transmitter and tilt it. No shouting or taking out cellphones. Update: It's been a year, and the battery needed replacement. Maybe once or twice a month the alarm didn't go off, but otherwise it's been very reliable. The glue has held firmly!

Works Perfectly and has a silent mode
Very easy to install - it took less than 5 minutes. The red light is easy to see, and the chimes get your attention. On that note...I failed to read the instructions properly and thought the dial on the back was the device on/off switch which also controlled the volume. As such, I had the dial set to the lowest setting, but the chimes were still pretty loud in my quiet home office. During a client conference call, the mail came earlier than expected and the chimes did their thing. The people on the call thought their own fire alarms were going off. Nope - it was me. I dashed over to turn off the device and finally realized the dial on the back is a VOLUME control, not an on/off switch. So, yes, the device can operate in silent mode! The product makes my mailbox much more secure since it tells me if the mailbox door has been opened, and it has cut down on all those unnecessary trips to the box to see if the mail has arrived. It is well-made, and is highly recommended.

A real Step Saver
I bought this because for the last couple of years the timing of our mail delivery varied any where from around 3PM to 9PM requiring multiple trips to the mailbox in any type of weather and daylight conditions. After researching many products at different prices, I chose mail chime because of the reviews and the ease of installation. The only negative I saw was the method for replacing the 12-volt battery which requires the removal of 4 screws with a precision screwdriver while the transmitter was affixed to the mailbox door. I was concerned that I would lose the screws if they fell to the ground. I called the customer service number in Rock Island, IL, and spoke to a nice gentleman who suggested that I use industrial strength Velcro to fasten the transmitter to the door. I went to the local ACE hardware store and purchased 15-pound hold Velcro. So far, the transmitter has not come loose and I can remove it when battery replacement becomes necessary. The device works very well. The transmitter and receiver are over 100 feet apart and there is one external wall and two internal walls between them. I particularly like the volume control which I have set so that it can still be heard and not drive my dog crazy. I have recommended this product to my neighbors.
