Can i use this with a aaa lithium battery or does it really need to be alkaline?

Use rechargeable AAA batteries. These small bright flashlights eat batteries. Each battery only lasts 40-45 minutes; tops. Alkaline AAA start out brighter because they are at ~1.60 volts DC. Rechargeable AAA batteries start out at ~ 1.42 to 1.45 volts DC depending on your charger. Difference in runtime is noticeable, but negligible. These lights are not meant as a main light for more than 30 minutes. They are primarily for intermittent use. The cheaper ThruNite Ti2 will NOT work with rechargeable AAA batteries.

Does anyone know the runtime with a non rechargeable lithium battery?

I’ve had mine for almost 3 years the standby is amazing, I’ve only changed the battery once, it lights up every time without fail. I’d say continued use maybe like 30 minutes
