It's a pretty good product, a pretty good pump, but what I would recommend to the seller or the brand in the future is that they make it out of a material like aluminum.Because plastic melts when heated

The perfect replacement to get my old MSR Firefly stove working again. Some of the plastic broke from my original pump, due to age.

It works perfectly on the Whisperlite I bought in 1988. Now THAT'S "backwards compatabilty"

Strange choice by MSR to include 3 items not listed anywhere on the box. The pump oil is appreciated and a great maintenance reminder. But why include the aluminum items? They're not needed, or wanted. Maybe they're so cheap they don't add appreciably to the cost, but it's environmentally irresponsible to send us stuff we didn't ask for. Besides, these items are immortal. A rolling pin smooths out any wrinkles and they're good as new. My set is 25+ years old. If people need those things, they can buy them separately. (or better yet, make their own out of lighter materials). Took off 1 star for environmental irresponsibility.

Just what I expected and needed to bring an old stove back to working condition.

I bought this instead of buying a rebuild kit for my 30+ year old MSR Whisperlite pump. My old pump still works, but replaced rings were showing wear and I started to worry that it might fail in the backcountry. Instead of saving $10 with the rebuild kit, I decided to get the newer version of the pump. PROS: Better pump than the original MSR Whisperlite pump I had. It definitely pushes air better. I like the new valve, which is more sensitive than my old pump. I can simmer easily. I did not have a problem attaching this to my old MSR Whisperlite hose. Some complained, whereas I don't think the latch is an issue at all. I thought the price was spot on. CONS: None. This is like my Swiss Army knife. My Whisperlite is the only stove I've needed for decades. Like I said, my old pump still works! BOTTOMLINE: Your MSR burner will last forever, just take it apart and clean it. This will turn your old stove into a new one for a lot less. Keep your old pump as a backup?
