It works.
This key does work with 2nd Gen SKS and you will be able to program with an original key. You will still need to go to a locksmith to have emergency key cut. Much cheaper than buying OEM and having someone or dealer program for you.

Perfect shell, amazing price. That’s great value.
This Key Fob shell worked perfectly for my 2008 Prius, works the exact same as my original fob before I replaced the shell, even fits perfectly into the insert slot in the Prius! All lock buttons continue to have full functionality. I also carved out a recessed spot to glue in the old Toyota logo (not required for use, just a fun touch- does require substantial effort to do so) This fob is built very durably, I dropped it while putting it together and no issues whatsoever. It looks clean and fresh. The shipping was super fast as well. When transferring the innards of the old fob, be sure to transfer the chip, circuit board, battery, the rubber seal from battery opening, and physical key. If you’re unsure of how to do any of this, go ahead and watch a video on YouTube, there are plenty. Also you’ll have to physically break open your OEM key fob in order to access the parts since the original’s halves are glued together. Also I’d recommend adding a little piece of the plastic bag to the corner where the light is in the corner to block the hole from dust and grime.

Paired successfully with 2007 Prius "smart key" (get with-chip version)!
This worked on Prius 2 (2007) with "smart key" option. Ordered the "with chip" version for $66. WARNING - included battery was dead, but I had fresh CR2032 handy. Easy to change. Carefully followed included Engrish instructions (need original, working key) and success! Could use some editing but was easy enough to understand. This new key from Amazon works for key-less entry (and locking) and ignition! Original key still works too. Dealer wanted like $300 and needs to see title in my name. Hardest part was finding a key cutter to copy the metal emergency-access key. Home Depot now has fancy computerized key duper that refused to do mine. Found kiosk with a tracer/grinder machine, but he wanted $35 for the 5-min process. Locksmiths listed as “nearby” were all mobile who will come to my address, for only $150ish! Finally got lucky with Strosniders / Ace hardware who still had an old-style duplicator machine. Took forever to convince them I’d already done the “programming” and just needed the metal key cut. Done for $7. Works! Total cost under $100. Plus half-day chasing duplicator.

Works but be careful
It comes without any instructions, but one can get help in setting up the key fob on the internet. But be careful about the steps involved in moving the circuit board of the old fob to the new one. The steps involved are: 1. Remove the key. This involves sliding a tab on the end where you would hang a house key and pulling the house key. The tab is very tight. 2. Open the tab again and push up on the side without the buttons. You should eventually get it off. 3. Remove the 4 (tiny) screws and the square plastic piece that covers the battery. 4. Remove the battery. 5. Now comes the hard part. It is difficult to open the old fob. I used a knife and pried and had to work the seam open. When you have it open carefully remove the circuit board. 6. This step is not on any of the videos that I watched at one end there is a small trapezoidal piece. Remove it and carefully put it with the circuit board. I didn't do this step at first and when I was done the new fob did everything but start the car. Now it's time to move the circuit board to the new fob. 7. Put the circuit board in the part of the new fob that has the buttons on the other side. You will notice the trapezoid shaped place on the new fob is empty. Put the mystery piece in the same place it was in the circuit board. There is also a little white piece on the old fob that is not on the new one. Put it on the new one. 8. Now attach the piece that holds the battery. It just clicks in place. 9. I would put a new battery in the fob. 10. Using the new screws attach the square plate. 11. Slide the piece with the tab that releases the key into place (this involves holding the tab open while sliding the piece in place. 12. Put the key in the place it was on the old fob. I replaced two fobs in this way. Both were successful after the insertion of the mystery trapezoid. Both would do everything but start the car without it. The new fobs replace old ones where the outside buttons were peeling off. The replacement is very nice, seems robust and will probably out last my 2006 Prius.

Wrong instructions! Won't Lock and unlock doors.
They provide a piece of paper with the package that shows how to program the key. The first step is to start the ignition. This one worked but note that when they say you have to close the car they also mean you have to roll up the windows. It didn't work when I had the windows down and it was 97° out and my Prius is black. So I had to roll up the windows and sweat it out. The instructions to program the remote for the door, however, are different from the printed version and the graphic that they have in the Amazon ad. Both instructions are different. The ones in the Amazon ad follow a little closer to the YouTube videos I watched, but neither would program the doors to open and close. I tried several YouTube videos and tried their instructions at least 10 times for the printed version and the graphic version in the Amazon ad and nothing worked. I will update my review and change my star rating if they contact me and can get this to work with the proper instructions. I have no idea how to get the video from them that they claim to have. So I guess I will just wait and return this if I don't hear from them soon.

Did not work and ruined my working fob
Spent 2+ hours on this, went over every internet suggestion and it will not work. Should have been fine for my 2008 Prius but it refuses to work wirelessly on the door locks. I did get it to work when plugged into the ignition, but that doesn't really matter if i cant get into the car in the first place right? Honestly id be fine if it JUST id the doors. Not sure if i got a dud or what but buy at your own risk. P.S. the one key i do have that worked fine for starting the car from my pocket before this... somehow in the process of trying to program this spare key my main key no longer works unless its slotted into the ignition now. So, no spare, my original is less functional, and im out 60$. Amazing.

Could NOT be professionally programmed to work in the car's slot (in case of dead battery).
The Smart Key features were professionally programmed and that works. However, it does NOT work when plugged into the car's slot. So, I do not have a completely usable second key but it still has value since it does work otherwise and the key was cut to work on the outside door. The professional confirmed it only has two (2) configurations in memory and all attempts to get the fob to work in the slot, both manual sequencing and computer setting, failed. Hence, the two (2) star rating. Crazy thing is my $20.00 Nissan Maxima key fob, also from Amazon, again professionally configured, worked perfectly in all respects, even with an after market security system on the car!!!
G**!
The 1st Amazon product EVER to earn both, a 2 AND 5 star rating from a custom! Y'all need to read this.
I bought this to replace a cracked shell on my key FOB. Worked as advertised. Good workmanship and having the correct screws was a real plus. No complaints there. There is just one problem with this product. It needs a complete set of instructions on the how to transfer ALL of the original key FOB's components to the replacement shell, either within the packaging or on its Amazon product page. My suggestion is to put it on its Amazon product page where EVERYONE can find it! Now... Here's why. :-\ No laughing please. 2nd thought, thinking about it... it is a little funny. Now, to be fair, the Amazon product page for this product does say that it does not come with electronics. This is true. It does not! HOWEVER... inside the original key FOB, unbeknownst to me, was a small removable chip at the front of the original case (that, as you might have guessed by now, I DIDN'T SEE), that ALSO needs to be gently removed and transplanted to the new case along with the circuit board from the old unit. This chip is REQUIRED to start the car when you insert the key into the dashboard key slot. I figure by now, it's somewhere beneath the surface of the county waste disposal site. :-( Oh well... At least it still works in wireless mode. :-\ So to the seller and manufacturer of this replacement case I would like to say, nice product, but, don't assume that the purchaser has the best eyesight or necessarily has complete knowledge regarding how a Toyota Smart Key system works. That one tiny piece of information instantly turns this product from a two star into a 5 star in my book. It's an easy fix!
