I truly want to recommend this product. I am in the process of refurbishing a 1989 Jefferson motor yacht. My husband and I have pulled all of the old carpet out and replaced it with Burger carpet and needed to bind the edges over the motor hatches in the main area/salon of our boat, the hatches are 5’ x 5’ and we have to get into the motor compartment quite frequently and the carpet needed to be bound. We installed the carpet and I came across this product so I gave it a try. It is excellent and so easy to install it looks fabulous , thank you so much for creating a product for the DIY warriors! I had a large rug given to me by my brother. The edges had tassels, which I dislike. It was also too large to look centered in our living room. Solution? I cut off approximately 15" around the perimeter of the rug, and added Instabind binding. I was very pleased with the results, especially being the first time I had tried a project like this. The company that makes and sells this product is Bond Products Inc.. They are great to work with. The color that I first ordered was too light, and I called the company for assistance in returning. They were friendly and helpful, and pointed me to a color card on their website that helped me choose the correct color. The return process (via Amazon) was easy and painless. The process is pretty easy, but it is time consuming for a large rug like this one. I recommend Instabind if you need to add binding to a rug or carpet piece, and do not want to pay for professional binding.

Looks great

The result looks as if it was hand sewn! The backing under the tape is adhesive but not very sticky. Nut, it is a small narrow version of the very strong carpet tape that installers use when they bond on piece to another when they lay and stretch your wall-to=-wall carpet! The adhesive hold it in place util you melt the edge tale to the underside of the carpet ant let it cool to bond. I have a 450 degree carpet tape bonder iron but a regular iron would work. Just don't move until it cools. It you don't position it properly, , just heat and pull to disassemble and reposition it properly. After it really cools, use a long needle nosed glue gun ($16 on Amazon) to run a small bead between the base of the serge and the base of the carpet. Ts melds them together and stops the fibers from coming loose and the backing edge strings from loosening as feet hit the edge.

My wife used this to make an area rug from a piece of carpet from a big box store. The process requires using some additional hot melt glue (a fine tip is useful). The color was very close to image on the product page. The edging adhesive is great, durable, and the end product is very, very nice. It took both of us to wrestle the big rug (this may vary on your rug size and construction), but the work was well worth it.

Easy to instal but you do need a hot glue gun for adhesion. Looks great and protects carpets.

Compared to having this professionally done, it was less than half the cost and it looks just as good.

Very easy to use and very happy with my completed projects. Made three remnants from carpeting left over from home improvement.
