Best beginner cookbook
I got this when I was first married nearly 30 years ago and now have given a copy to my college student. Itโs a great foolproof first cookbook. Highly recommend!

Great recipe's for a beginner
My girlfriends doesn't cook that much but she's been wanting to get into it more. So I bought this as a semi joke but also the recipe's and instructions were wrote in a manner that made it simple to make several things in the book already.

Learn How to Boil Water....Seriously!
First things first. There are no photos in this book. Now, I'm huge when it comes to cookbooks having photos - especially if I'm unfamiliar with what I'm cooking. I want to know that it looks the way it's supposed to.However, in this book, that may not be such a problem - simply because these are simple recipes for simple foods. You already know what most of this is supposed to look like.So who is this book for? It's NOT for the home cook. It's NOT for anyone who already cooks. This is a basic starter cookbook for the person who has never cooked a thing before. It's perfect for the kid who is just moving out on his own, getting his first apartment who realizes that, while fast food is probably going to be their main staple, once in a while they may want to cook dinner (or if they get lucky, breakfast) for someone.Scrambled eggs.Grilled Cheese.Salad.Sandwiches.Boiling Water.Wait...boiling water? Yes, this cookbook explains how to boil water or fry a strip of bacon. It's that basic. The most complicated things are lasagna and enchiladas, but even those are basic and easy. Each recipe is written in clear, easy to follow language and is rated if it's easy, medium, or hard. Most are rated easy. In addition, they call for ready made items like refrigerated biscuits, jarred spaghetti sauce, and Velveeta. This is truly a foolproof little cookbook for the person who thinks cooking is reheating Chinese takeaway in the microwave. It won't make you a gourmet chef, but it will get you fed.

easy to follow
I got this for my sister for her birthday and she loved it. I took it for a test run before I gave it to her and made some cookies from it. Good ol fashioned chocolate chip and they were SO GOOD. I usually suck at making chocolate chip cookies (dont even know why) but these?????AMAZING.

Great for a beginner and or more experienced cook
I bought this sort of as a gag gift for my boyfriend for Christmas since he was excited when he learned how to make pasta just a few months prior. He has since learned a few recipes from this book and even I have tried a few of the more advanced ones and we love them! I love the the ingredients listed are easy to find in any grocery store and the instructions are very clear. I recommend this cookbook to anyone!

Great starting cookbook
I bought this for my son, college graduate out on his own. This is a great easy to read, simple cookbook for the beginning cook. The layout is perfect. The start of every chapter has the recipes listed as easy, medium and hard. So, as the cook becomes more confident, they can go on to more "difficult" recipes. Includes common recipes so anyone can follow the instructions.Personally, I like it that there are no photos. I find beginner cooks get frustrated when there food doesn't look like the picture. Also, I think my son would find pictures distracting. He needs to concentrate on the instructions.I highly recommend this cookbook for beginners.

I dunno
I bought this for my teenage godson, who really, really can't cook. He had been very excited to try recipes from this, but his mom did have to call and tell me that he managed to fail at one of the recipes. This might be great for some beginners, but clearly not for my overthinker.
