Does the pad fit in the case along with a the pecncils to take with you?

Yes, the sketch pad and the watercolor pad are in the travel case

Are the pastel pencils like a oil pastel in pencil form?

Pastel pencils are similar to colored charcoal pencils

This item indicates it only weighs 3.2 oz but it weighs much more than that. What is the true weight?

It’s certainly no light weight product I’d say when full at least 1lb if not 2lbs.

what is the size of the zipper case?

I couldn’t tell you exactly but the 6”x9” sketch pad fits nicely inside. Guessing I’d say it’s at least 8”wide (closed) and 10 to 11” in height. Everything fits nicely and securely nothing is cramping. It’s an excellent product for beginners and avid artist.
