Serpentine Prison

Matt Berringer is certainly on top of this game with this album. Reminiscent of High Violet no National fan will be disappointed. This album is a gem so invest in this treasure.

When I buy new music, I'll first play it as background music to see if any of it grabs my attention while I'm doing something like checking news websites. I had to stop playing this one after about six tracks because the songs sounded pretty much the same—like melancholy songs by The National, but with a few sonic twists. Then again, Adia Victoria's "Silences" didn't do anything for me as background music, but when I listened to it late on a gloomy night, through headphones, it blew me away. I hope this album does the same thing.

I buy a lot of CDs because I'll hear a song in a movie. This was great. I ended up liking most of the songs. His voice is mellow and easy. Perfect in the mix.

Matt Berninger's voice is amazing as always and Serpentine Prison is a delight. Whether or not you have been a fan or new to Matt and The National, this will not disappoint!

Matt at his best. Every track is gloriously soulful and passionate. Close your eyes and you might hear Leonard Cohen - and that is pretty damn good.

This guy has the most fantastic and engaging voice ever. I really like that he finally wrote some love songs. Buy it you'll like it!

Il existe une version deluxe avec deux chansons originales mais sur vinyl ou streaming seulement. Mais si on parle du disque, il est bien fait. Cela ressemble à the national mais c'est son style personnel qu'il nous apporte avec des collaborateurs comme gale ann dorsey qui faisait déjà des backing vocals avec the national et scott davendorf, du groupe the national qui joue de la basse sur ce disque. J'aurais aimé que matt prenne la peine de mettre les deux chansons de plus car il le sort en cd après tout mais c'est un bon disque du chanteur. Je le recommande. Un bon 8 sur 10.

Saw him as a musical guest on Colbert's show and decided to take a chance on the album. Fine musicians, wonderful soothing vocals, and numerous good tracks. This one goes on my playlist.

This album is really beautiful, we love every song!! Absolutely a must for your collection!!!
