Health boost for great price
I have bought this several times. It has helped our family prevent and get through many illnesses. It is easy even for children to take - just add it to a little juice or honey water if they can't handle it in plain water yet. Taking vitamin c that is buffered is much easier than straight ascorbic acid, both in taste and ease on the stomach. I have bought this specific brand several times. Good price

Homemade chemistry or moonshine I'm not sure what I made
Works well. What else do you want me to say that I use this in some World war II experimental coffee mixture to develop film. Nah you don't want to hear all about that. Just be glad that we're not in a rationing state. And you can get black and white photo chemicals.

Surprisingly Effective As Chlorine Neutralizer
I bought this to use after I go swimming. I swim nearly every day in an indoor pool. My skin gets very dry and itchy as a result. In the past I would lie awake at night for a long time itching when my sheets rubbed my skin. One night when I couldn't fall asleep, I did a little online research. This is where I read that this powdered form of vitamin C dissolved in water would deactivate the negative effects of chlorine. I use 1/2 teaspoon to 1/2 cup of water distilled water. Or, if more than one person is using the batch. Dissolve 1 teaspoon in 1 cup of distilled water. This cannot be made too far ahead because the vitamin C degrades rapidly once it is dissolved in water. For it to be most effective, use in within 24 hours. Remember that you must use distilled water, which is only about $1.39 a gallon where I live. Don't use tap water. Chlorinated tap water will deactivate the vitamin C before you are done swimming. I put the dissolved solution in a spray bottle and spray myself, swimsuit and all, rub my skin and then rinse. I cannot describe how much better my skin feels. This really worked for me. If you are a regular swimmer, and especially if you have dry, itchy type of skin, I highly recommend that you give this a try. I only make it by the 1/2 cup now since it loses its effectiveness after 24 hours. On occasion, if I swim at night and again the next morning, I'll use the same batch. This is an easy solution since it is relatively inexpensive and the product mixes easily.

I meant to get Calcium Ascorbate, but this works to take sour out of drinks
I bought thinking I was getting Calcium Ascorbate (D'Oh!). They both serve my purpose (as I will describe), but the Calcium Ascorbate will add calcium (good) instead of sodium (neutral). Anyway, my purpose is to take the sour out of fruit drinks, both fresh (lime)and commercial (Tang, lemonade, etc.). Using my chemistry background, I have used other bases with some success; sodium bicarbonate reduces acid, but adds characteristic baking soda flavor; sodium citrate is better, but not readily available, and requires a lot. Sodium or calcium ascorbate (neutralized vitamin C) should reduce acid AND add vitamin C. The sodium ascorbate dissovles instantly, and is very effective at reducing acid flavor. I added 1 tablespoon to an entire container of powdered lemonade mix, and it markedly reduced the acid sourness. The only downside is I detect a very slight hint of sodium flavor reminiscent of baking soda, but only very slight. I have ordered calcium ascorbate, and I expect it will work as well to reduce acid, have less sodium flavor, but may not dissolve as readily. I shall review its performance soon.

Gentle Source of Vitamin C
With flu season upon us, my family needed a non-acidic form of vitamin C, and this NOW foods sodium ascorbate powder works great. I stir 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon into a glass of water or juice. It has a slightly salty taste, maybe a little like baking soda, and doesn't cause any stomach upset at all. The bottle is going to last a long time.

Always have this on hand and use daily for family and animals
Vitamin C is one of the few things I always have on hand and use daily, not just for myself and family but also for my animals. This sodium ascorbate in powder form is easy to use and dissolves almost instantly. It's pure sodium ascorbate and the NOW brand is one I trust and have used for many years. I can't use ascorbic acid so this is perfect and if you are sensitive to the acidity of ascorbic acid, or the tart taste, try this instead. Vitamin C is something every household should always have on hand and is crucial for skin, arteries and all cardiovascular related tissues, eyes, respiratory, you name it. I get the smaller bottles of this during the warm months because of our extreme humidity here in the Midwest. I also prefer the powder over capsules because I can control more precisely and easily how much I'm using and have no waste. Highly recommend NOW products and sodium ascorbate.
