Why is the 2 pack more than 2 times the price of the single detector?

Be aware that the sensor has a 7 year life.  At least that is the information I got from Kidde.  I am replacing my 2 units purchased in 2011.... Otherwise they appear to be good.  I am not sure if other brands have a similar lifespan.

How far apart are the mounting holes?

I just installed three of the Kidde CO Alarm Model KN-COB-LP2.  The holes are exactly 3.00 inches (7.62 mm) apart.  I recommend sliding off the back plate and using it as a template, though.  Install One screw, or in dry wall using the provided plastic anchors, Drill one 3/16" (4.75 mm) hole and install the screw. Then hang the back plate off the single screw and level it and use a pencil to mark the exact center of the second hole.  Install the second screw.  Check with back plate to see if they align sufficiently (My first one was off a little because I did not follow the procedure above, but it was still OK, just not perfect).

This seems to happen a lot on Amazon. The answer for the consumer is just order multiples of the cheaper priced one. so say buy six of the 15's for 90 instead of paying an extra 9 to bundle. Perhaps there is a legit answer sometimes such as bundled shipping goes up for the seller if it's sent from them and not Amazons warehouse. Anyway most often when I see this I just chuckle and of course the advantage is in my court as long as the stock is available to order any number if say I only need 3 or 5 I can skip the multiple bundles for more money and just select the quantity of the single one I'm ordering. Also works if it's say two is cheaper than 4 etc. Do the math and you can chuckle at the silly world we live in these days. Chill out and stay safe it's better for your heart everyone.

Question 4

Would this device work in a 6' x 6' hunting blind with a Mr. Heater heating unit?

I believe this would not be a good fit for the Kidde. The conflict comes with a mr. Heater  unit.
