Wonderful book on bird photography
I've read dozens of photography books but this one was my first book that focused entirely on producing more enticing bird photographs. It does just that. Text is clear, easy to understand and it has already made me a better bird photographer. The photos inside are very inspiring as well. I would recommend it to photographers who already have a basic understanding of photography technique.

Excellent book, well written and beautifully illustrated.
Excellent book. I have read it 3 times and found the information in it invaluable. Great if you want to know the basics of bird photography and equipment. It could do with an update to take into account mirrorless cameras and auto focus technology but it still wouldnโt put me off recommending this book.

Excellent resource for any aspiring bird photographer from an artist who really understands them
I decided to review Photography Birds by Gerrit Vyn after reading it and then waiting several months to see how it impacted my bird photography. It's a fantastic "self-course" covering all aspects from mindset to technique to post processing. While I will always strive to become a better bird photographer, the chapters on Birds in the Field, Technical Matters and Creative Decisions really helped me to work more patiently as well as become more deliberate in each capture. I refer to these sections periodically to get into the right zone for birds; the need to take more time to observe them and look for the right moment, background and lighting rather than just shoot away. This book has also prompted me to research bird habitats and behaviors and have a better plan in mind from clothing to equipment to learning about the birds that I might encounter before I head out. After admiring Gerrit's beautiful images in the book, I was inspired to get out into the field more frequently in a variety of conditions and enjoy the experience no matter what I see. There is no substitute for practice. Some days are more prolific than others but I think that I have improved the depth and quality of my images and become a more conscious and considerate bird photographer thanks to his great advice. It's a must for your wildlife photography library.

Great Book!
One of the best book I've read about photography. A good balance between theory, personnal comments and images. Worth the investment for sure!
