I've had bright teal hair for years now, so that means I try not to wash it too much so that I can prolong the color. I really liked the idea of dry shampoo being applied with a brush. I feel it can get deeper at the root more than my fingers can. I can't stand oily hair, so I've used a ton of different dry shampoo powders and sprays over the years. I've even used baby powder. This stuff right here is a miracle in a bottle. It smells AMAZING, reminds me of sweet tarts, and the smell dissipates within 2 minutes once applied. My hair looks like I just washed it, and it fluffs it up a lot too! The only downside to this wonderful product is the actual container it comes in. You're supposed to be able to slide the plastic rim up so that the brush is protected when you put the lid on top. But it gets jammed and stuck down in the bottle and I've struggled to get it out. Ya know, the kind of struggle to where I was pulling on it hard, and when it eventually came up, so did all the powder in my face XD I honestly don't care that the bottle it comes in sucks. This is an amazing product that I've used multiple times between actual water and shampoo. I see why it's so expensive now. But it lasts a long time. I'm definitely going to be buying this again!

I LOVE THIS DRY SHAMPOO!!! Here's why: #1: It provides more coverage than spray shampoos. It just WORKS better and the application is quicker and easier. #2: It smells ahhhhmazing! #3: Seems expensive, but lasts FORRREVVVERR! #4: Travel-friendly! It's compact and since there is no liquid/aerosol you don't have to worry about limits. #5: It matches your hair color... no white splotches or waiting for it to blend in. #6: Do you really need another reason? Buy it. Buy it now. I will never buy another dry shampoo again. This is simply the best.

I bagged this a couple years ago because it left a mark of brown on my pillows, and under fingernails if I scratched my head. But --- combined with my favorite dry shampoo sprays (mine is BATISTE "bare" and "shine") it's FANTASTIC !!! I was desperate as the dry shampoos left my hair with white strips, and I was going through bottles. SO - I combined .. It's 100 degree+ weather over here, a dry heat, no air conditioning, and my usually oily hair - is dry on the 3rd day. APPLY OVER SINK / AND ON A BROWN TOWEL if possible. If you don't have problems - then disregard!! I found the little dots of colored dry shampoo marked where-ever they fell. They are washable, but it's a pain to then get the spot remover for your floor / carpet / ... So I stand on a brown towel and apply with my head over the sink UNDER the outer layers of hair. Then I fold the towel up -- because the powder dots will fly off the towel if you just lift.. and get all over the floor!! .. THE LONG VERSION FOR ANYONE WHO'S WONDERING HOW TO USE For uber oily, long hair (mine gets oily within a day -- lots and lots of fine hair) : 1. Use AMBIANCE DRY SHAMPOO * UNDER * layers of hair in the oiliest spots. I lift up the top layers of hair and brush it underneath. After each brush I rub it in. By the third day I will brush a little over the top center, for my oily hair. 2. RUB THAT IN !! As noted after each application I take a good scrubbing with the pads on my fingertips where applied. 3. Then sprits just a few short sprits from your favorite SPRAY Dry Shampoo, against scalp in temple areas / back of head / where-ever you're really oily -- again under the outer layers of hair mostly. I need this final touch because AMBIANCE does not work alone for my oily hair, and the Dry Shampoos I have to use bottles ... COMBINED : I can go 3 days in 100+ degree weather with my long, lots of fine, what use to be oily hair. 4. RUB IN spray Dry Shampoo too with pads of fingers. 5. TOP OFF WITH A VERY LIGHT SPRITZ of your favorite strong-hold hair spray if need ( that helps my thin hair keep volume ). A good rub and it seems to join the oils with the products, and your head. SCENT : Ambiance use to have no scent; it now has a faint one which I'm not crazy for -- but it disappears after application. STILL SLIGHT MARK ON PILLOWS & UNDER NAILS : washes off. Because I'm combining AMBIANCE with my own SPRAY Dry Shampoos, I'm using a lot less of both -- so there's barely any mess on my nails and pillows (both of which still wash out), and a longer time span in between buying my Spray Dry Shampoos. NO REACTIONS : I have skin allergies to nickle, parabens, latex .. and on from there. This is fine for me, though by the 3rd-4th days my head starts to itch and I need to wash it out !! No flakes / just start again with fresh hair. REASON FOR THIS REVIEW : I have spent years trying to keep my oily hair in check. Now, at 42, I've got something that works for me. There are a few winning ways out there against this problem, so you might have to do what I did and combine a couple of the formulas of whatever successful products you read about, for your own success!

Original Review: August 7, 2012 This is by far the best Dry Shampoo I've ever used. I have never been remotely successful with aerosol spray Dry Shampoos, but I gave this powder one a shot because I know baby powder is effective at eliminating grease, though it of course leaves your hair looking kind of white or grey. So I was very interested in the idea of a powder that had color in it to prevent that side-effect. This stuff is awesome! A few times I have accidentally spilled out too much but it's pretty easy to get the hang of. I brush it on my roots with the applicator and then use my fingers to comb it through. This has lasted me over a year too! I just came here to repurchase for the first time because I ran out last week, and Amazon is telling me at the top of the page that I first purchased it in August 2012. A little goes a long way! I definitely intend to keep this around at all times, and I cannot recommend it enough. _____ EDIT November 17, 2013: I have lowered my review by two stars due to the experience I had when repurchasing this product in November 2013. I was very impressed with how long I went before needing to buy more! But then when the product arrived, it only came with what was already in the applicator, whereas last time there was a refill as well and that is why it lasted so long. I reached out to the seller to ask whether it was a mistake or if they no longer include a refill. They told me that because Amazon ships the product I would need to talk to them. Um... what? How can you sell something on Amazon and not even know what is supposed to come in the box? That is absurd. Not to mention they specifically reached out to me and asked me to leave them feedback, and then when I reached out to them they shut me down. So here is the feedback they asked for: Good product, horrible service. I will not likely purchase from them again.

This Ambiance Dry Shampoo is the best dry shampoo I've tried to date. And I've tried many, from Rene Fuerterer and Orlando Pita to Klorane and numerous less expensive drug store brands. Ambiance has beaten them all. What I like best about it is that it does not leave a dull finish on my hair and the fullness it imparts looks natural. I got the blonde and it's a good match for me and it adds a soft sheen, something I think is very difficult to get with a dry shampoo. The blonde shade has a pearlescent tone, but it's not glittery; it's just enough to put a little shine on. The only negative - but only deserving of a half-star less in my 5-star rating - is the applicator. It can be a bit messy until you get used to how to control the dispensing of the powder, and the brush could be a bit stiffer, but this is a small issue compared to the really great product inside. I try scads of hair products and am usually not impressed because I have difficult hair: fine, porous, aging hair that lacks volume & shine, so I rarely repurchase product lines because they don't perform to my expectations. I will be buying Ambiance again and again. Thank you Amazon for introducing me to this item.

The red color looks PINK in my hair & on my scalp. Otherwise it worked well. If your hair color is very dark red this may work for you. My hair is a light red.

The bottle comes with a sticker on the side that has to be removed before the cap can be removed. It reads "Do not tip until directly over hair/scalp". I didn't heed the warning sticker! They aren't kidding! The powder pours out instantly. I haven't used it for the dry shampoo properties yet, just got the package and was wondering what the product felt like and the scent. I tipped it and had a hand full of powder before I knew it! The color of the powder is a rusty red, no obvious scent, has a texture of a high quality mineral makeup powder. I did apply some of the spilt powder to my hair line and was pleased with the fact it did match my hair color (rust with gold blonde and strawberry blonde highlights) but it does rust leave a colored residue on the scalp. I found just rubbing my scalp a bit with my finger tips.....worked the rust color off my scalp and it wasn't as noticeable. I applied what I had spilled into my hand with a mineral makeup brush and will probably continue to do so because it gave me control over the powder the applicator brush doesn't offer. The brush comes off (screw top) so you can reloaded the applicator. The applicator brush is more like a Kabuki brush and hard to control once over the scalp. My hair was washed this morning so I can't say much about how effective the powder is as a "dry shampoo" but it did add some texture and helped control some of the static at the ends. Over all I think I am going to fall in love with this product, I just won't be tipping it!

I would give it a 0 if i could! At first I loved this product and sometimes used it to get another day between shampoos. My hair has always been extremely healthy but gets slightly oily the next day after shampooing. This product looked great and matched my blonde hair perfectly. I loved it... UNTIL I had my hair re-highlighted and my hair literally fell out in CHUNKS!! Luckily I have really thick hair (or HAD really thick hair before this) so it wasn't a complete travesty. I didn't know at that time what was going on though and continued to use this product. The next time I highlighted my hair it once AGAIN came out in chunks! My hairstylist had used a different, and more mild product to highlight my hair that time, but we had the same results. So we were certain it wasn't from getting my hair highlighted... Besides, as I said my hair has always been healthy and not "fried" as it would be from over-processing. We talked about what I was using in my hair and this Ambiance Dry Shampoo was the ONLY thing that was new to the equation. So I stopped using it and Viola! This time when I got my hair highlighted, NO chunks of hair fell out and it has started to grow back! Plus, we noticed that the ONLY places my hair came out were the top & sides... the ONLY spots were I used the dry shampoo! So, even though I rarely review products, I felt I should warn other people so that maybe it will prevent others from losing their hair too.

Great dry shampoo that has no nasty additives and adds volume which is good if you have fine hair like myself.

OK so not cheapest thing but i believe its worth every penny I struggle with sensitive skin and i dye my hair red and i leave doing my dye as long as possible as my scalp isn't a fan of dye but having dark brown and scary grey roots i used to feel self confident but this stuff is so cool it might not be to everyone's taste i found it perfect match to my red hair and blended in and lasted until was washed out its really helped my confidence. ive used it 5 times and wouldn't notice any missing from pot so think along with refill should last ages. some advice...dont tip it upside down just slightly tip and dap :)

Really works well particularly on grey hairs. Definitely makes my hair look thicker and takes aware greasy look from not washing. Much better than most products which leave you looking like you've dusted your hair with talcum powder. However, I agree with other comments that you need to be careful when applying as a lot of the powder can come out at once. Also, I would say avoid wearing light coloured clothes on the day you use this as it does have a habit of spreading when you apply it.
