What I really want is this waych, with a light-up display. Any suggestions?

The countdown timer is the trade off for the light-up display. The versions with light-up display will not have the countdown timer.

does this watch have a button to light up the display?

No, at least mine doesn't (it is several years old and maybe they added one?). If not, I guess the answer is "no." I think the lack of a light might be a disadvantage if you are wondering what the time is, but if you are using the watch to alert you to do something in (say) 10 minutes, it is easy to set the time to 10 minutes by the sound of the beeps, and to hear the ringing when the 10 minutes is up, so mostly, I don't miss a light.

Is the timer silent? I am looking for a cheap watch to use while taking the LSAT, so everything function has to be silent.

The timer will chime once the preset time is reached

Is this watch Water Resistant?

I've read (I think in the instructions) that it is somewhat water resistant but not under very much water. Maybe a meter or so.
