Both parents and children will love Iggy Peck, Architect , a fun-filled, inspiring, colorful New York Times bestselling picture book, from author Andrea Beaty and illustrator David Roberts, about the power of teamwork and the importance of celebrating individual gifts and self-expression. Watch Iggy Peck in the Netflix television series Ada Twist, Scientist ! โRead it at bedtime (itโs a quick read!), chuckle with your children, and send them to dreamland.โ โAmerican Institute of Architects Some kids sculpt sandcastles. Some make mud pies. Some construct great block towers. But none are better at building than Iggy Peck, who once erected a life-size replica of the Great Sphinx on his front lawn! Itโs too bad that few people appreciate Iggyโs talentโcertainly not his second-grade teacher, Miss Lila Greer. It looks as if Iggy will have to trade in his T-square for a box of crayons . . . until a fateful field trip proves just how useful a master builder can be. A story told in verse, this is a book that shows the power of education and science. Iggy Peck is a child who once โbuilt a great towerโin only an hourโwith nothing but diapers and glue.โ The structured rhymes and lively illustrations fit the architectural theme, and the text uses absorbing details of Iggyโs world to bring the tale to life. Each of Iggyโs classmates has their own unique quality, implying the variety of personalities and potentials to be appreciated in any group of children. Young readers will love their time spent with Iggy Peck. Theyโll love the story, colorful illustrations, and also learn about the passion and practicality of science (STEM). This is a book that should be in every classroom.
I have read it to the kids at my daughter's kindergarten class, and loved it so much I had to have it at our house too. Iggy Peck is no regular toddler. This one makes towers out of diapers, cathedrals out of apples and a chateau of chalk. inquisitive and bright Iggy delights everyone with his unusual interest and talent, accept for his 2nd grade teacher - Miss Lila Greer. Unfortunately for Iggy, Miss lila suffers from a architecture phobia, inflicted on her in an early age when she was lost on a tour to a sky scraper, and found only two days later, in an elevator, with a french circus troup. Miss Lila declares that buildings have no place in second grade, sentencing Iggy to feel bored and unappreciated... But a day comes - and Miss Lila Greer will need his talent, and learn to love and appreciate it. I was thrilled to find this book at our school, and I wish more classroom had this book, and more teachers read and understood it's message. This funny, intelligent story will be as much fun for you to read as for your children to hear. It is a "not too long, not too short, perfect for a bed time story" kind of book, that my kids cannot get enough of. Accompanied by wonderful illustrations, it is one of the most beautiful picture books I have seen. I recommend it to anyone who has kids in ages between 4 and 8.

Kids love it, rhyming scheme is a bit complex :)
My 3 and 6 yo love it. The rhyming cadence is a bit more confusing than Rosie Revere and Ada Twist (these 2 have simpler rhyming schemes), so it takes a few reads to make it sound good when I read it out loud. Try to do it in a rhythmic, sing-song way that my kids like. Again - you have to practice a few times to get it right. Fun story and have gotten a lot of use from it!

Parents will enjoy reading this as much as children will enjoy this LOL BOOK!
My daughter is an architect, and her daughter is now five, so I thought the whole family would appreciate this book. It looked delightful from the few intro pages online, so I ordered it to give her for Christmas. Well, I would have waited until she saw it to write the review, except that I simply couldn't wait to tell the world that this is the MOST INCREDIBLE BOOK! I started reading it and couldn't put it down, and found myself laughing out loud all the way through it! WHAT FUN! It's a book that parents will enjoy reading to their children as much as the children will enjoy the delightful adventures of this precocious young architect-in-the-making and the hilariously creative artwork. Do yourself a favor -- BUY THIS BOOK! THEN figure out who to give it to! You'll love it!

Iggy a good way to teach my child about yet another profession
The stylised illustrations as well as the story of going all out towards your passions is good way to tell the child about a new profession as much as standing for ones interests and passions

Lots of mileage
There's so much in this book that you can appreciate and draw out. Simple, fun story; detailed drawings; buildings and architecture; rhyming. It is a bit American at times and I'd probably not give it 5 stars. But it wasn't for me! Bought it for a friend's daughter, who loved it. Now her little brother (3) is insisting on having it every night. Definitely recommended.

Who Doesnโt Love Iggy Peck?
A great book. My kid used to love it ages ago when we read it to him. We got this one as a gift for a grown up who just became an architect.
