I LOVE MY BAOFENG UV-5R AND ITS BIG ASS BATTERY!!!!

I wanted to buy the OEM battery, and this one was inexpensive and I was surprised at how good it was. I don't think I would even use the small battery that comes with this unit. I will be buying another one of these, and that would give me probably a week of power. I highly recommend this battery. Makes the radio 10 times better.

Works well with the factory charger, or can be charged with a standalone cable. Has a lot of standby time. I like the added size this gives to the radio, along with the benefits of extended battery life.

Charged like it should and has worked flawlessly so far but it is too soon to give any comment on longevity hence 4of5 stars.

Love it because it makes the radio big enough to grab, and work the keypad without dropping it. Plus, it just looks "cool" like you expect a HT to look like. Monitoring , radio will go three, four days on one charge. Takes a LONG time to run battery down to do the "recommended charging cycle" ( I did it ONCE, too much trouble to discharge all six batteries) and charges overnight without a problem. I have four UV-5R's and two are used on High Power as a repeater with these batteries and haven't run any dead yet. Charged every other day. normal battery used during charging cycle. no problems with shipping or "Fit" as others have mentioned and I swap out batteries with any UV-5R with no problems..

Amazon is asking me about Thickness for every single review I have to write - cat food, radio batteries, workshop hardware, lotion, you name it. It's killing me. Yes, this extended battery pack for my Baofeng UV-5R hand-held offers excellent Thickness, in that it fits the radio without sticking out anywhere so it's not too thick in the hand, and it fits in the BaoFeng charger, so its thickness is spot-on there... *ahem* I did a run-down test with this and the stock, 1.8 A/Hr battery, and lo, the bigger one actually took nearly twice as long to run down to zero. Who'da thunk it? "Does it what it says on the tin."

The battery life is worth buying! I recommend buying two and you’ll go a while without needing to recharge any batteries. I use this battery pack when I go hiking, especially when using a radio as a back up means of communication.

There are enough variations on the Baofeng UV-5R that getting accessories to fit your particular model can be challenging. I ordered two of this battery for the UV-5RE (sold as the UV-5R Plus), and neither one fit quite right, as expected. But, instead of the battery not fitting due to extra plastic in the base of the battery where the radio sits, it was actually the top-clasp notch that was too narrow for the lock to slide into place. I spent about 3 minutes per battery with a hot soldering iron melting about 1/16th of an inch and they both fit perfectly now. The same work could have been done with a razor blade or a small file as well. I'm giving this 5 stars even though I had to modify it because I bought it fully expecting to have to modify it, based on reviews of similar batteries purchased for other radios in the line. The combination of 1) My expectations, 2) The ease of modification, and 3) The price, makes this a purchase I am glad I made.
