Great Device for anyone who is uncomfortable with hearing aids!
Easy to operate. My 100 yr old Mom can do it! A little frustrating to have to keep moving the microphone from the device to the extended cord but a small price to pay to not have Mom blasting the TV. Like that the cord is long enough so the microphone can be placed directly under the TV speaker. Great substitute and way less expensive than hearing aids.

Wires everywhere
I love this device because it gives my dad more control over hearing. His hands are a bit clumsy so, with his hearing aids, he has a hard time adjusting the volume, cleaning and changing batteries. He also LOSES his hearing aids on a regular basis. The POCKETALKER makes those tasks much easier & it's large, thus difficult to misplace. What I don't like is the wires. He has to use the lanyard to keep from dropping the device AND the connecting wire between the headphones and device, coupled with the lanyard, simply get in the way. However, he seems to have figured things out and now used the POCKETALKER more than his $5,000 hearing aids. All in all I'm happy that we made this investment. PLEASE let me know if you have wireless headphones! That would be AWESOME!

One flaw makes this almost unusable
This is actually an amazing device. The microphone does a good job, the amplifier works great, and the sound is fine with a surprising range. BUT - the headphones are the most uncomfortable I have ever used. They pinch your ears and are not adjustable in any way. The bar that connects behind your head is not bendable or flexible at all. What a shame. I am going to try to see if I can get some type of ear buds that will work with the PocketTalker.

Jury Duty - couldn't hear the judge until I used this device
I know that I have hearing issues. I wear a hearing aid in one ear, but the other ear is supposed to be okay - probably "was" supposed to be okay. In my work as a remodeling contractor, I am usually working alone in a bathroom or kitchen all day and never noticed that my hearing was deteriorating - until I got summoned for jury duty. I could hear the woman in the assembly room okay, but when I got into the court, I couldn't make out most of what the judge and prosecutor were saying. I asked the bailiff for a hearing assistance device (I saw a sign that offered them to the heaing impaired) and he told the judge and the judge asked the court reporter to get one. It was all very embarrassing as the judge needed to stop asking the other jurors for their responses to a questioneer. At first, the device was popping and I almost couldn't tell that it was working, so I fussed with it and eventually asked the bailiff for new batteries - the judge had to stop again. Once the new batteries were put in, this thing worked wonderfully! It made such a difference that I went home and ordered one of the newer model units. This newer one is larger, but has a modern look. It is plastic, so I'm not sure how durable it is, but it works. It even has a tone control that adjusts the treble to help boost the higher frequencies, like when my wife is talking to me. This device is working better than my $1500 heaing aid, but remember, it is also boosting all sounds and not just the ones that you need help with, so in large gatherings, like Thanksgiving last night, it can still be a bit difficult to pick out someone talking directly to you as opposed to someone having a conversation next to you. Still, for many people, this Pocket Talker by Williams will bring them out of the isolation of hearing loss.

Poor Quality
Poor quality, poor quality control and exorbitantly overpriced. Headset could not be adjusted to fit properly and ear pieces were small, minimally padded and uncomfortable. The foam ear pad covers were paper-thin. .Battery selection switch was missing and there was nothing but a hole in the case where it should have been. Lanyard was like a shoe string. Mounting clip on back of unit was too small and too tight to be of any use. It could not be clipped onto a belt. Unit was prone to feedback because of small, ill-fitting ear pieces on the headsets. The overall impression of the entire set was that it was a joke.

Husband loves this Pockettalker
After a terrible Fall - my husband was in the hospital and he has hearing problem - one of the Therapist used this product with him in the hospital and I ordered for home. He Loves it and uses every day. He has a hearing aid that he does not wear - this serves the purpose. Great Product. I also ordered the rechargeable batteries to go with it.

Great personal sound amplifier - external hearing aid
Don't let the 4 stars fool you, it is the price and the cheap add-ons that kept it from being a 5 star item. We purchased this for a relative that is in a hospital bed laying down. We were sure that the headset that would come with it would not work well because of the behind the head style strap it has, it does not. That being said I did test the unit prior to going out and getting a different corded headset for him, they sounded great. I tested them while talking with the original and the replacement headset and both work great. I am truly glad that this unit uses AAA batteries. At the cost of the unit I did not want to buy either a special battery or be stuck with a built in battery. I need this unit to last for several years.

The clarity of speech
Great product that does what it says and its a well made item. Despite being able to alter the treble - base tones of receiving, I didn't find that it benefitted myself. For example, I'd hoped to be able to use it without the headphones with our TV so that my wife could hear the normal audio without it cutting off with headphone connection. Sadly the voices were not clear and so I resort to using my headphones with the TV.
