Korean-English/English-Korean Dictionary & Phrasebook (Hippocrene Dictionary and Phrasebook)

I'm currently an exchange student studying at SNU. I purchased multiple english-korean/korean-english dictionaries before coming here, and of them all this is by far the best. Although it doesn't have all the words possible in the actual dictionary part, the middle section with various particles and conjugations is incredibly helpful, as is the phrasebook/cultural segment towards the end. It's super helpful when I need to translate Korean to English and vice versa, or simply need to figure out how to correctly phrase a sentence, or to even memorize short lines I need to know before going out and interacting with Koreans. Buy this book! It's amazing.

For awhile I thought I needed a comprehensive dictionary to help with learning Korean but this book gave more than the typical dictionary. The section at the end with conjugations and suffixes is the main reason I bought this book. I like to read through it when I need to review. The dictionary enteries are limited but I haven't had a problem yet with finding a word.

I consider myself an intermediate learner of the Korean language. This book exceeded my expectations! Not only does it give you TONS of words to learn but it also helps you with Korean sentence structure. It explains any and everything you need to know. BUY THIS BOOK! And no, you do not need to be an advanced learner to benefit from this book.

This book isn't just a book for tourists. Not by a long shot. For me it has been the best Korean language learning companion to my online Youtube studies particularly the Grammar and word formation section. The simple explanations and formatting allow me to easily insert other words in the given phrases - which are in te book - so I can practice, practice, pratice. And the more Korean you learn the value of this book and its' method of presentation and content increases. I borrowed this book from the library a few months before leaving for Seoul and ordered it before visiting and it has been invaluable curin my current stay in Korea.

This book is a great resource. I own TONS of Korean language learning books. This is one that I carry around with me. It is the ONLY book so far that has a section called "Sentence endings and Helping verbs" This is CRITICAL to understand how to make sentences...and once you learn an ending, you can practice it with different verbs.

This has not only a very useful dictionary but also many useful phrases for a variety of purposes. Great for travelers!

Excellent dictionalry and phrasebook. Easy to use. Plenty of words dozens of useful phrases. Product matches product description well.

Really good grammar sections, and a great selection of modern words in the dictionary. One small criticism is that the Hangeul is all in bold and sometimes this makes it hard to read, have had to rely on the romanization to tell what some of it said! I'm using this more as a pocket-sized grammar summary and dictionary, than as a phrasebook.

Bon et très pratique MAIS ... certains caractères Hangul ne sont pas lisibles notamment dans la deuxième partie du livre du fait de la taille de la police utilisée : cela produit de gros pâtés noirs. Bien que le livre corresponde à mes attentes je retire 1 étoiles pour cela. Ceci étant la deuxième partie (grammaire, ...) est vraiment très pratique.

Es un libro muy útil, más allá de la parte de diccionario, incluye una sección de gramática bastante útil, además de que trae vocabulario dividido en diferentes ambientes, como puede ser de comida, empleo, etc.
