## Description

desertcart.com: Park Tool VP-1 Vulcanizing Patch Kit (Single) | Park Tool Vulcanizing Patch Kit for Bicycle Inner Tube Repair : Sports & Outdoors

Review: Great little kit for bike lovers - I would like to thank you desertcart and Park Tool as I had to signal the fact my package was not delivered by the transporter despite it was mentioned the contrary on the site; thank you for having sent me another kit! I love it and it really worked on the two tires we had to fix. Very useful to have if you do not want to have to re-buy a tire just for a tiny hole: it is a must kit to have everywhere you ride with your bike. Moreover I think it is a great satisfaction to fix your bike yourself. In this kit you will find 6 patches of different diameter to fix different kind of leaks plus a tube of glue and a tiny, but useful sandpaper to make a good and clean job. everything is packed in a tiny box easy to transport with you as it fits the external pocket of a camel bag. Great and useful, a bikers must!!!!
Review: Hole-be-gone saved my tubes! - I keep 3 brand new inner tubes in my house at all times, carry 1 spare tube in my saddle bag, but the security that these patches provide is unparalleled. Before my road bike handling at night was decent, I found myself rolling through debris and oversized NYC potholes. The first puncture I got was 2 blocks from my house when I was returning home (what luck!) and I quickly scampered home to patch it up with this kit. Here's what I did: 1) Rubbed the hole in my inner tube with isopropyl alcohol 2) Let it dry 3) Sanded the area around the puncture 4) Applied a thin layer adhesive 5) Waited until it was tacky (like applying a false eyelash, I've heard) 6) Applied the patch (leaving the plastic top layer on) 7) Reinstalled my inner tube and tire. This amazing little kit worked wonders a few days ago when a piece of metal got embedded in my tire and punctured the same tube again. Because of this little kit that fits so handily in my saddle bag, I was able to retain my inner tube and avoid using a new one, which saves me money in the long run. This kit is a must have! Please don't leave home without it!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what size tube is the glue?**
A: It doesn't really matter. The cement tube in the patch kit will be dried out within 10 months of first use. As a practical matter, I've found that these Park patch kits are a single use item.I'm a verified purchaser of this Park VP-1 patch kit. As I suggest in my review, you can buy good quality Kenda inner tubes for about $5.75 each, shipped. I now carry a new inner tube in my panniers and would install that instead of patching. However, I also carry a replacement Park patch kit for the unlikely event of having two or more flats in one day. That event is so unlikely that I prefer to carry the small, light Park patch kit instead of a second new inner tube. The cement tube in the Park kit will remain fluid for many years as long as it is kept sealed and unused.

**Q: I have leak on the rubber right under the valve, would one of these patches work? The valve part and tube material seem to be a bit different.**
A: Possibly because of the inflated pressure pushing on the patch and possibly sealing the hole, but probably not! Sounds like an old tube with dry rot separating the 2 materials. In an emergency I might try it, however I would replace the tube.

**Q: It shows two different kits that look exactly the same except for the container and price. What's the difference? Thanks**
A: From the looks of the new add is that one is last years product and the more expensive one is this years product ! I'd go with the new one ! Just because the glue would be fresher. It's an awesome patch .. I know that for a fact. Significantly better than a walmart product and significantly better priced than a bicycle shop. I'll probably order a new one here ..

**Q: is the glue/cement enough to patch 2 small patches?**
A: Depending on how aggressive you are with the glue at least 2 patches. However, once the break the seal the remaining glue will be good for about 6 month. Beyond that you are pushing your luck. It does not matter which brand you buy. If you have broken the seal, toss it at the end of the season and buy a new kit. On a side note: something rarely seen in the instructions, before installing the inner tube, check the inside of the tire to insure the object that caused the puncture is not still embedded in the tire!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great
*by D***E on May 5, 2014*

I had two bicycle tubes that leaked. I patched them with an old patch kit and they leaked as soon as i blew them up. I removed the old patches and sealed them up with these. They are thick and stretchy and have worked so far on both tubes. Be sure to scratch the area with the sand-paper like sheet, included. Also, use a thin layer of glue and let it dry for a few minutes before applying the patch, as per the instructions. It's a small kit, but there are several different sizes included. It fits nicely in my saddle bag. I probably should have rated the product with 5 stars. The only reason I didn't was because I think there should be a few more patches included. I hope this helps you make a decision if you are considering this product. It's good and I would recommend it to a friend. I might even get another one if I use up all the patches.
