Could our deepest hurts reveal the key to a powerful form of prayer that was lost 17 centuries ago? What can we learn today from the great secret of our most cherished traditions? "There are beautiful and wild forces within us." With these words, the mystic St. Francis described what ancient traditions believed was the most powerful force in the universeโthe power of prayer. For more than 20 years, Gregg Braden has searched for evidence of a forgotten form of prayer that was lost to the West following the biblical edits of the early Christian Church. In the 1990s, he found and documented this form of prayer still being used in the remote monasteries of central Tibet. He also found it practiced in sacred rites throughout the high deserts of the American Southwest. In this book, Braden describes this ancient form of prayer that has no words or outward expressions. Then, for the first time in print, he leads us on a journey exploring what our most intimate experiences tell us about our deepest beliefs. Through case histories and personal accounts, Braden explores the wisdom of these timeless secrets, and the power that awaits each of us . . . just beyond our deepest hurt! In an easy to read and understand little book, Gregg Braden captures and shares the profound method of prayer, bringing the ancient wisdom into todayโs understanding of the quantum world.

Blessing isn't forgiveness
As I work on affirming, manifesting and praying, the topic of forgiveness often surfaces as a prerequisite for spiritual growth (in many books). Honestly, forgiveness is a touchy subject for me and I tend to dismiss self-help literatures that casually encourage readers to practice unconditional forgiveness - regardless of how traumatic, damaging or hurtful the occurrence may have been. It's easy to tell someone to "let go," "release with love," and "move on." Those phrases mean nothing to me, especially coming from mere quotations in a book. This book promotes the practice of blessing - not synonymous to forgiving but - as an act of acknowledgment that the pain-bringing past has indeed occurred. By accepting it happened, the author says one can ascend past the rightness and wrongness of the occurrence and create a space of no judgement so new feelings and thoughts can enter. (don't worry, the author makes it much simpler). It's similar to the meditative notion of attaining pure awareness in between breaths - between inhaling and exhaling is a gap where you're neither breathing in or out, where your breathing has stopped. In this moment, your mind is dead, it has stopped, you are not thinking. The negation of thoughts allow you to immerse in complete awareness, void of mind-thinking. (for more, read Osho books) These states of no-mind and no-judgement is where spiritual transformations, emotional healings (forgiveness) and manifestations seem most possible and many reach these states through prayer and meditation. Reading this book, I felt the practice of blessing as a simple active meditation to consciously shift your awareness from the past hurt to a mindset of no-judgement, creating space inside of you to begin forgiveness and healing. The author's writing style is uncomplicated and easy to read. It's unnecessary to agree with his interpretations of religious evidence behind his beliefs, to appreciate this book.

A lie changing book
I've known about this form of prayer for years, but I really didn't understand how the process worked. Along with the way to create and feel a prayer, the heart of the book are the stories to help us understand a very effective and ancient practice. I'm sure I'll read this book again.

It's so simple and so profound, and that makes it beautiful.
I loved this book because it not only looks at the same ideas from different perspectives, cultures, and belief systems, but because it also gives you very easy and clear steps to apply them. I feel as if I've grown in the time it took me to read this. That somehow, I'm wiser, more developed spiritually, and also a thousand times lighter! I trust this author, have read another book of his, and have watched many of his videos. Not only does he know what he's talking about (after all of his intensive research) but also, he just seems so authentically passionate about it. He seems like he would be the nicest guy to sit down and have a conversation about. Super glad I picked this one up!

Inspiring
It took me about a week to sip the pages of this book and I tried the advice on the pages. It's helped my mental health and I've already seen some doors open. Whether the doors would have opened without my reading this book is of a small matter because I wouldn't have been in the grateful mind to embrace the opportunities without it. Thanks!

Matt be less repetitive
The main theme is excellent, could be without additional anecdotes. People do not remember how to identify their own feelings.probably working more on that would be useful.

Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer
Really interesting for all people who use to pray and meditate. The old mode of praying is powerful and healing. It works concentrating the mind or feeling what we want to be or get for us and for others. If we are not able to feel happy, antecipating what we believe is the most important thing for us or other living being, we are not able to experience it. To pray is to put ourselves in the heaven, If we do not give any time to feel these condition, it does not work to pray for any kind of divinity to give us things we can not apreciate.

Just Amazing
I wish I could have given 50 Stars. One of the best book I have ever read after Autobiography of a Yogi. This amazing scientific literature is full of solid evidences how the beliefs are formed in our life and how those falls beliefs molds our life. This book will change the way you look at your challenges. This book will give you tools to be prepared to face those challenges and molds the results the way you want. Off course it's all about faith. You can't fill a glass if it is already filled.
