//*\\ Nautilus Book Award - Silver Medalist for Middle-Grade Nonfiction //*\\ Attention all grown-ups! Kids have questions! Now theyโll have answers. Kids of all ages have some important questions about how their bodies workโand why their parents and other adults have some strong ideas on what needs to get done every day in order to stay healthy. Children often hear: โNo more screen time!โ โEat your vegetables!โ "You can't have cookies for dinner!" โYou need to take your medicine!โ โWash your hands! With soap!โ โItโs getting late! Get ready for bed!!โ In this book, Dr. Nina L. Shapiro embarks on an amazing journey through the body as it gets fed, protected, exercised, cleaned, energized, and rested. Each chapter provides kids with age-appropriate explanations and illustrations that address their very good questions about their bodies and health with solid (and fun!) science-based answers. By receiving an in-depth understanding of what it means to be healthy, strong, clean, rested, and energized, kids will soon be able to make smart decisions on their own. The human body is incredible, and the science behind how our bodies work, how the world affects our bodies, and how our bodies affect the world around us is pretty cool, too. Review: Kid-Friendly, Engaging, and Informative - My 6 year old tends to question household habits like, "Don't go to bed too late," or, "You need some more protein/vegetables, etc." She's perfectly willing to go along as long as she knows why, and I realized I only had a vague understanding of why. This book was perfect for teaching both of us exactly why she needed to cut down on sugar (and screen time), eat more fresh produce, and go to bed earlier. The format was digestible and she enjoyed listening to me read the information. The author's tone was very engaging and informative. Highly recommend for those with 6 year olds and older! Review: Important for kids - Very good and age appropriate book for young kids. The shots chapter was really good for opening the kids up to talk about their fears and understand why we get shots.

It was interesting and helpful.
Helpful to planning meals for a seven year old that only likes one food at a time. I was able to get some better proteins and fruits and veggies into his diet. He was not real thrilled with book at first but started showing interest when I explained this would help him to leap further in a single bound.

For older, independent readers
I bought this to read aloud together with my 7 and 9 year old daughters. The book is very informational, but is written in a way that itโs best for an older and independent reader (probably 5th grade and up).

Good resource book
I needed a book to help me teach health. This book gives me enough information to plan the activities and give the information needed to the students. The book uses language that kids can relate to.
