Octopus Control Board

Exceeded my expectations. Very well made and functioning flawlessly.

The board overall is well made and the connections are robust. I chose this board to update one of my printers to dual z axis and dual extrusion. Could have gone with SKR Pro, but I liked the fact I could set the voltages for various components like fans and inductive sensors. I have a mix of12 and 24 volt fans running, with no extra hardware to modify voltage. Setup info Isa little.scarce but if you Google."BTT octopus setup" you should find a guide. Even Wifi was easy to setup. You simply had to drop the firmware file on the SD card labeling the wifi firmware "esp3d.bin" the bootloader does the rest. Very critical you name the firmware files appropriately. Would hate to flash the wrong firmware on the wrong board. Overall working well and happy with my purchase.

Working on my old Prusa which was in RAMPS. Now I can call my project Octusa.

This is the second one of these I have bought for different projects. This one is going into my Voron Trident build. Easy setup, works great. No complaints.

Worked well at first. Fan stopped working after. Not sure if it was my fault or not

Great board for a machine if you can find the files for but a DIY project it isn't a good one to use. These are very particular on its set up and not a easy plug and play.

If you want a fully loaded motherboard for your 3D printer, this is it. Its impressive how many ports and features on the board. Follow the guides online, or find some useful Github repositories and youll be up and running in no time. I personally use it in my Voron 2.4, works great and has supported all the extras i've added.

I have had very poor luck with BTT in the past. I thought I would take a chance and change from my fysetc spider to the octopus 1.1. I have been trying to get this card to work for six months on and off I get so frustrated. I have to set it aside for a while, then I pick it up figuring that it must be the firmware or my set up or some mistake that I might’ve made. In the end I think it’s just a crappy board. BTT has a little to no quality control. I have read other reviews that say that it took them three boards to find one that actually worked. I do not have the patience to try three boards. I will be reinstalling my spider board. This was a huge waste of time and money.

New motors, pulleys, drivers and this board, my printer now moves like it will hurt you if you were to stick your fingers in the wrong spot. Excellent. Before with a stock board with onboard drivers doing the same would make it skip steps. I've got room to upgrade with this which is great. Kinda wish the thermistor chip wasn't a tiny smd mod, but otherwise this seems like a great board so far.

Used as a massive major huge upgrade for my sidewinder X2. Lots of motor, fan and sensor i/o make this the perfect board. Marlin 2 firmware compiled for it without any issues (once you get your toolchain all set up). Now running independant Z axis, inductive sensors on x,y and z and I'm about to re-add the filament runout sensor, and some RGB LEDs. Perfect for the DIYer.

Like all BTT products, this board is amazing, been using it for my Voron 2.4 build and it is flawless and very performant

EDIT: It clearly states here that the board supports 12v or 24v inputs. IT DOES NOT! From the manual: "Supports 12V or 24V supply inputs (12V only supported on motor and bed. Logic must be > 14.1V) with built in 12V (4A), 5V (8A) and 3.3V (1A) regulators to provide rails for peripheral use." The board REQUIRES 24V. This may well be the root cause of all my issues! Original: I bought this board to replace a SKR 1.4, which was working fine, but I wanted to add a 3rd Z-axis for hardware bed leveling. Most cards support up to 5 motors, I needed 6, this board had 8. Replacing the 1.4 was pretty straight forward, but then the surprises began. Motor channels 4 and 5 just don't work. So i'm down to 6 channels. Enough for my purposes but not the 8 the board supports. Obviously this required quite a bit of software reconfiguration. Probably but not definitely related, I had a Raspberry Pi 4 configured to be powered from the card as per the user manual, but it was getting under voltage errors. So it now has a different power supply. Despite working for a while, I'm no longer able to load the firmware through the Octoprint plugin I'd used with the 1.4 board. Now it refuses serial connections after a reset. Firmware can only be updated by loading it through the SD card, which involves opening up the case, a non-trivial process. Finally, as is common with such upgrades, I had to wait for a number of parts from a number of sources. So by the time I noticed these issues, the small return window had expired. I'm stuck with a problem board.

This thing is a true multi-tool of a printer control board, covers just about anything even the most advanced printers could possibly need.
