Big Echo

The Morning Benders' Big Echo is both accessible and elusive. Much of the songwriting is simple: beautifully and thoughtfully crafted melodies sung beautifully, seamless transitions, etc. But the final products become much, much more. Every song is extremely layered, offering the listener a chance to discover something new even after multiple listenings. Ultimately, what results is a contrast between the songwriting and arrangements/production that pushes the listening experience into a different, more complex event. Definitely one of the best albums I've heard in a long time, and I look forward to listening to it for years to come.

Edit: I'm an idiot - realign your cartridges with a protractor if this happens to you. Great album, buy it ----- Skips endlessly. Replaced my stylus thinking that was the issue. Guess the early 2010's was a bad time for vinyl pressings. Love this album, really disappointed.

I love the song, but little portions of the songs were being skipped. My other vinyls don't have this problem so I know it's not my turntable.

Sound quality not as good as the You tube version?!?! I really liked the innovation of these artists but found the sound quality disappointing.

I ran across The Morning Benders on YouTube and really loved the song Excuses (Yours Truly Session). Great video, great song, stunning performance all around. Wanted to hear more - the whole album is exceptional.

Saw the videos for the Yours Truly Session on Youtube & loved it. Bought the album because of those songs. While the versions of the songs are good on the album, I liked the video a little more. It seemed a bit richer with all of the voices & instruments involved.

I love the Morning Benders' old school 50's sound. I saw these guys live once at Governor's Island in NY and I've been a fan ever since. Something about the packaging of this album though has been better than other vinyl's I've ordered through Amazon.

全世界で高い評価を受け、某雑誌では年間ベストにも選ばれた今作。 彼らのサウンドをざっと乱暴に語るなら、ビーチボーイズ、ロネッツをインディーギターロック風に現代解釈した作品と言える。 実際、彼らはこのアルバムの前にフリーダウンロードのカバーアルバムを制作している。（今はHPにてダウンロード販売中、傑作なので是非。2011年４月現在） そこで、ロネッツ、ランディ・ニューマン、ビーチボーイズ、トーキングヘッズなどカバーしている。 これらのカバーが今作のアイディアになったとフロントマンのクリスは語っている。 これだけ聞くと、レトロポップ好きのインディーバンドのように感じるが、むしろ彼らはこのレトロを使う事で若者のリアルを暴きだす。 詩も追ってもらえるとわかるのだが、とても現代的なバンドである。 フロントマンのクリスを中心に、チャイニーズ系アメリカンの若者３名とアメリカ人によって構成されている。 クリスはこう語っている 「タイトルのビック・エコーというのは、過去の記憶って意味なんだ。 僕らは別にノスタルジックになってる訳じゃなくて、昔の音楽を現代風にリアレンジしている。」 「そして、これは同時に、もはや存在していないアメリカンドリームとか現代にいかに夢が無いかっていうことを批評している。」と そういう意味でも彼らはとてもリアルなバンドなのだろう。サウンドだけでなく詩、世界観も合わせて、傑作。 追記 関東・東北大震災を受けて、日本のためにチャリティレコードをHPでダウンロード販売してくれています。日本人としてとてもうれしいです。 [...] このアルバムが気に入った方はぜひダウンロードされてみて下さい。

Eine Musikzeitschrift meines Vertrauens hat die amerikanische Band "The Morning Benders" bereits zum - möglicherweise - kommenden "Indie-Superstar" deklariert und geht jede Wette ein, "dass die Morning Benders in sechs Monaten zu den meist empfohlenen Indiebands des Jahres gehören werden". Als Musikliebhaber, ständig auf der Suche nach guten Bands und CD`s, habe ich mir diese Scheibe (zweites Werk der Band) flugs besorgt und - um das Ergebnis schon mal vorweg zu nehmen - mit der oben angeführten Einschätzung hat man sich gar nicht mal zu weit aus dem Fenster gelehnt. Bereits der poppige Opener "Excuses" schleicht sich dank dezenter Streicher und schöner 60er-Jahre-Note unwiderstehlich in die Gehörgänge und stimmt einen für den weiteren CD-Verlauf positiv. Ganz stark auch Track 4 ("Cold War"), der zum Mitsummen und Mitwippen animiert, leider aber schon nach 1:40 Minuten endet. Nach einem "nur" guten Mittelteil geben die Morning Benders bei den letzten drei Songs nochmal richtig Gas und vor allem das grandiose "Stitches" (Track 9) versteht es, zu begeistern. "Big Echo" ist für mich definitiv mein Favorit der ersten Jahreshälfte 2010!

「ノスタルジック」という言葉がぴったりなんですけど、どこかに「諦め」、「感傷」といったヴァイブが内在している、そんなアルバムです。 グリズリーベアのクリス・テイラー がプロデュースを務めていることもあり、空間に広がりがあって、ささくれ立ったギターや独特の粘りのあるリヴァーブなど、気持ち良い音が溢れてます。そして、オールディーズなどのポップな音楽に影響を受けているようですが、それをベースにしながらも、良く練られた展開であったり、案外重厚なグルーヴがあったりします。 とにかく、かなり完成度の高いアルバムだと思います。

子供の知り合い（スケーター）だということで、気になりYouTubeでチェックして気に入って買いました。歌がウマい！！ジャケットのセンスもいい！
