Prince: Chapter and Verse―A Life in Photographs

Nice presentation, haven't read it yet, great photos, very nice!

I learned a lot about why they didn't play his music on the station where I live it was because he was getting more religious, and I work a lot before I retired on disability and I found my way back to God ,through going this process of disability because of all the surgeries I went thru i was not afraid.

This is a beautiful collection of photographs and stories by friends of Prince and fellow artists throughout his four decades of performing. I love this book and will treasure it for the rest of my days. The photographs are all top notch, and presented in a beautiful manner.

I bought this as a gift for someone who was influenced as an artist by Prince’s music. It’s full of information and details that even diehard Prince fans may not know and the photos are fabulous! A great coffee table book!

This is a nice book for Prince fans. Not just pictures, but stories and sentiments from those who were close to him. A real inside look at him. I bought a used copy. The book is fine. It only has a few blemishes on the corners of the cover, but it's ok with me. I just started reading it and the inside pages seems to be in great condition. I have no complaints so far.

Being as big of a fan that I am of Prince I already knew a lot of the details that were mentioned in the book but to read each page in a time stamped manor and by each person made each detail fully come to life. This is one book I would tell anyone to pick up and read whether you are a fan or not because it's not just raving about his music but his drive to be better even though in our eyes as America he couldn't have gotten any better. I truly truly enjoyed this book.

A must have for Prince's fans. Beautiful pictures and delightful stories. I read very slowly, as I didn't want the book to end...

Autor Mobeen Azhar hat für den vorliegenden nicht authorisierten Bildband mit musikalischen und gestaltenden Weggefährten von Prince gesprochen, und aus ihren Erinnerungen und chronologisch geordneten Fotos einen so lesens- wie sehenswerten Hardcover-Band zusammengestellt, der in keinem Bücherregal von Prince-Fans fehlen sollte. Die meisten Fotos zeigen Prince bei Live-Auftritten on stage, es gibt aber auch einige Promo-Bilder, Fotos von Backstagepässen und auch das Foto eines von Prince selbst gebastelten CD-Covers ist zu sehen. Jedes Foto wird durch einen Bildtext ergänzt. Der Leser erfährt, wann und wo es aufgenommen wurde, und gegebenenfalls, wer außer Prince noch auf dem Foto zu sehen ist. In den Interviews geben die Beteiligten nichts über die Privatperson Prince preis (hier müssen sich Fans wohl noch gedulden, bis 2017 das Buch von Mayte, Princes erster Ehefrau, herauskommt), sondern schildern ihn als nie schlafenden von der Musik Besessenen. Man musste sich als Begleit- oder Studiomusiker oder -techniker stets bereit halten, denn Prince konnte zu jeder Tag- und Nachtzeit anrufen. Projekte mussten immer schon am besten gestern fertig sein und auch der Streit mit seinem Plattenlabel Warner Bros bleibt nicht unerwähnt. Interessant ist, wieviele Projekte durchaus fertig produziert wurden, jedoch nie das Ohr seiner Fans erreicht haben. Gerade die Berichte über diese unveröffentlichten Alben sind neu und hochinteressant. Hinzu kommen einige Erzählungen über Princes Vault, also dem begehbaren Archiv in dem die unveröffentlichte Musik des Prinzen schlummert. Die Qualität der Fotos ist meist sehr gut, das Buch ist hübsch gestaltet (wie man ja auch beim virtuellen "Blick ins Buch" feststellen kann), die Durckqualität ist nicht zu beanstanden. Von mir gibt es die vollen fünf Sterne hierfür - und eine Kaufempfehlung für Prince-Fans.

このような写真集を待ってました。嬉しい！殿下のファンでしたら購入して損はないです。日本で発売されたプリンスの特集はどれも満足できませんでしたし、日本では写真集は発売されてませんよね。この写真集は先日訪れたペィズリー・パークのツアーブックと同様に家宝です。英語が弱くとも写真だけみていてもよいと思います。初期の頃から収めてあります。飾っても素敵です。購入してよかったです。Prince - Stories from the Purple Undergroundと同じ内容のようですが、紙質が違うだけならば、こちらの安いほうで満足です。

I absolutely loved this book. You can tell the author liked Prince as well - there are little stories set in among the photos which set some context for the photos too. Highly recommended!
