Yes the thing is pricy, but it LASTS! It has a nice “click” to it when pulling. When it winds back up, it unravels itself. The hose is high quality. If your a guy it once, use forever, this is the one to get. It has more than paid for itself in the amount of headache this has saved me. Installation was super straightforward and as long as you put it on a stud, your a stud, the thing works great

regret not buying years ago. must have with any air compressor in garage/barn. impressed with commercial quality hose and strong spring. 50' is usually more than enough when mounted on wall or ceiling. bracket can be detached if necessary. great buy for the money.

Someone else's review said the lead in whip was replaceable, but in the unit that I got, that's not the case. It's crimped into the reel, and I wouldn't be able to remove or replace that without damaging the reel. A shame since I wanted to use a longer lead in hose to avoid a coupler and have a nicer looking installation. The mounting bracket is removable, so you can mount the bracket, then mount the reel with much less stress on your body. Just remove the retaining screw in the plastic hinge pin first. I mounted to my gorilla rack's keyholes with a couple of nuts and bolts. No drilling needed. Pull down on the hose more than out, and you're good. The hose on this reel is the reason I picked Goodyear over no name reels. The hose is flexible and has a good feel in my hand. Reel action is good and the clicks let you know when it will catch. I do take some care when spooling in to help the hose go back and forth, there's no hose guide to do this for you, but my kids don't give it a thought and just let it recoil any way it wants. So far, no issues, and I'm very happy that way.

This is the second one of these I ordered. One at each end of my shop. I made the mistake of ordering a less expensive one from another manufacturer and it just wasn't as good. It was OK, but it felt cheap and didn't work as well as my original Goodyear. So, I now have two. The only minor knock I have against it is that it is a little challenging to install. The housing that holds the hose doesn't swing out of the way enough to easily get a ratchet on the lag bolts that will attach the unit to the wall/ceiling. The cheaper one had a better design that made it easier to install. However, that is a one-time thing and otherwise, it's great.

Finally setting up my shop and this is perfect for my needs. Top quality.

Received this product and the housing was busted in several pieces. I bought it on sale and saved it to give as a gift so I just learned about the product being busted since it was taped and sealed. Maybe it was on sale because it was busted and unusable..
