Great Knife!
I ordered a Global Santoku knife a while back from a recommend in a knife forum. Turns out it was a great knife, and it quickly became my wife’s favorite kitchen knife - we had Zwilling/Henkels for the most part before I got these. They’re light weight, keep the edge for a reasonable amount of time (they all get dull, these commercials for the “world’s sharpest knife!” are silly, whack stuff up on a cutting board, go through some turkeys and roasts and it’s as dull as the $4 knife at the dollar store). They’re kitchen knives, so rust really isn’t an issue. They’re also lightweight (I believe on the bigger knives, the handle has a hollow cavity) – it’s all one-piece construction, so no handles coming off or getting damaged or destroyed by washing or leaving it too close to a burner. For Christmas I decided to replace all of our Zwilling/Henkel knives with Global knives. I ordered them à la carte – like everybody else, Global’s big sets had more than I needed and not enough of what I wanted, so if you see this review in multiple places, that the reason. Anyway, the 8.5” bread knife is very nice, functional and worth the money.

Sharp and well made.
I always wanted a nice set of knives and found Global. For a birthday or holiday I’ll buy myself one. This is the bread knife and it is amazing. Besides bread, I use to slice larger vegetables. My set is growing.

Excellent Bread Knife. Powerful Long Serrated Blade
I love this knife. It was a pricey purchase, considering I began to make bread at home to save money and be in control of what goes into the bread I feed my family. But this knife makes slicing my loaves so enjoyable, it was worth it. The long Serrated cuts quickly cleanly. It doesn't squish soft bread or break up crusty bread. And it's so easy to get even slices. Careful though, the blade is super sharp! I love Global knives. This one had the great Global "dimpled" handle. I am really happy to add this bread knife to my growing collection.

A thing of beauty
I love Global knives - all of them. The value is phenomenal. This bread knife is no exception. It does a good job with bread but where it really shines - BAGELS! I have cut myself numerous times using small or dull knives trying to slice a bagel. This Global bread knife cuts them open with little to no effort. Very crusty bread - not a problem! I have had this knife for about a year and its as sharp as the day I got it so its very durable.

Great for sourdough bread

This thing is a beast.
One might wonder if it's worth it to pay for a fancy bread knife. After upgrading to the Global from a common grocery store bread knife I can definitely say yes. This thing will rip through a stale loaf of tough French bread with just a couple of strokes. It's dangerously sharp but that's a good thing in my book. I'm not sure how I'll sharpen it, but after several months of use that I have not seen any sign of it loosing it's edge. It is comfortable to hold and use, I have large hands but my daughter also likes it.

The best bread knife, period
I own several bread/serrated knives: a Henckels 8'' bread knife, a Wusthof 10.25'' slicer, 3 versions of Victorinox wavy edge knives, and a Global bread knife. All are excellent knives and one cannot complain about owning either of them. I use the 20-years old Henckels mostly for cheese, the rest for bread. For tomatoes I definitely reach for a Victorinox knife. As a bread knife, Global wins easily, by a very wide margin. It also looks fabulous. Its teeth are somewhat too brutal for tomatoes and hard cheese. If you are willing to spend $100+, go with Global, and consider getting a Victorinox knife for tomatoes, maybe a 7'' chef's knife with a wavy edge. If you want to save $$$, you'll be plenty happy with the Victorinox only, but then you may want to get the 10 inch slicer or the offset bread knife. Think what other silly things you spend $$$ on, a great knife or two is probably a better use of your hard earned cash, and it will have you beaming from happiness, almost forever.

Nice clean cut
Very sharp, great for cutting off the crust of a sandwich, gives the whole sandwich a nice clean cut. The length of this serrated blade is perfect for sandwich bread and other bigger bread, toast, and bagels. Despite its size, it’s actually easy to hold, the handle has some weight to it, sturdy yet the blade is light, making it easy to use.

The light sabre of bread knives
Bought as a gift - my partner described it as a “light sabre cutting through bread”. Super sharp and the high quality we expect from Global knives.

ANOTHER WINNER!
just purchased the bread knife to add to my global collection. Very impressed. Does the job well, looks smart, and completes my set...(for the meantime) when I can afford to buy the meat clever I just might treat myself! Delivery and packaging all A+!

Value
A great bread knife is essential. This one is pleasant to hold and powers through even stale or partially frozen bread, it has aggressive serrations that make it easy. If it is like my other Global knives I expect it to stay sharp for many years. It's not cheap but when you consider the cost of a lifetime purchase, it should be divided by the number of years you expect to use it.

Excellent for left-handers too!
Very fine quality. Great for sourdough - and left-handers!As an extreme left- hander,I've found that dept-store bread knives are not bevelled finely enough for us to cut evenly. This one does - well worth the price!
