It doesn't stop cigarette smoke coming from the cigarette itself. This isn't really meant for cigarettes, it's meant more for people who smoke bud using a pipe, since pipes don't give off much smoke. This primarily is to hide the smell of smoke that comes out your mouth.

The filter will feel clogged when exhaling into it. It's important to also note that you can remove & clean the hydrophobic screen inside the mouthpiece. Regularly cleaning this screen and keeping it dry, will keep your filter lasting longer.
